I think I'm gonna .. retire my Preon 2... I looooved the thing, but it's clicky switch is so annoying and unreliable that it drives me crazy. For the past few days it's been turning on and off on its own will. It doesn't change the modes when I want it to, anyway, it's a mess. I love the freaking thing, but I can't waste like 10 minutes every time I turn it on to get it into an actual working mode... I will, however, use its head with the body of my Lumintop Tool, I guess, as I like the mode sequence. So itll be like a 1 x AAA clicky... it'll start on low, it'll have medium and... whatever high it manages... and a few hideen modes.

WHOA, WAIT! The problem seems to be IN the head, too now!! I used it the way I mentioned above before and the Lumintop worked this way. Now it won't turn on with the head of the Preon. Seems like it's not just the Preon's switch, but head gone wrong, too... yeah. Head gone wrong. Looney light.

And you're absolutely right not to. It's entirely my "fault" and risk, I knew it. I'd seen so many videos and bad reviews on the Preon, but I just couldn't resist its looks and 200 lumens. Well. I at least had really lots of fun with it. For about 7 months and a half. Sigh.

I never did like the looks of those Proens. What you need is a respectable light, one that takes CR123 batteries for starters  :pok: :pok: :P

I'll be back to using my tiny little Fenix E01 for a while... well, together with the Lumintop.

It was such a great time when I bought my first every quality light - the E01 - had IT only, didn't wonder what to use & carry every day, used and abused it and it neeeeeever failed me.

I support that!!! Maybe not the CR123 thing, but I find the looks of the preon disturbingly awkward, at least IMO.
