My father in law gifted me this flashlight recently and I freakin love this thing!
It’s a headlamp but it’s also functional as a small - but very bright flashlight.
It clips onto just about anything and it even has a Red or Green LED mode which is super battery efficient. Couldn’t be happier with the performance of this little light  :woohoo:

Anduril is fun but at first its  :ahhh.  You'll figure it out.

This was a big help.  Also playing with the light helps a lot.

Thanks Aloha  :hatsoff:

I also found this (his) video on YouTube.  I needed to see how fast/slow the click and holds needed to be and what kind of response to expect after a sequence.

I *did* manage to solve my problem!  I had to do a ‘ hard factory reset’ using the ‘remove cap and hold switch til it blinks’ method.  Then I think there’s an undocumented feature where smooth and step ramping are available in Simple UI.  Hence, I never really left Simple UI to begin with.

10 clicks and a blink later, I found myself properly in Advanced UI and can now access temp check, beacon ( managed set it to 2 seconds between flashes), etc and the strobe functions.

I’m quite happy and satisfied that I don’t wanna touch anything else at the moment  :pok:

I’ve always wanted an Olight but they’re quite pricey on my side of the globe.

Gonna back track a bit on Anduril 2 — it’s fun as long as it does what you want it to do.  Otherwise it’ll just add to the stress of the day

It’s kinda feels different going back to a ‘normal’ flashlight though - If I’m gonna spend USD20 to USD25 then I’d rather get one with Anduril.

Is shipping to the Phillipines expensive? Olight have pretty deep sales once a month, so depending on the reshipping cost it might work out for you?

Its does take a bit of messing with it to learn the UI.  In carrying my simple UI lights I'll say its great to have light but as you say for 20/25 of my money I'll go for fun UI.  I know that sounds weird to someone who just wants on/off.

Narsil UI is one that I'd like to try as well.  I'm sure there are others but I'm not stepping anywhere near that rabbit hole  :ahhh

I use a freight forwarding service for small stuff like SAKs and MTs and would cost me USD20 from CA or NY. It’ll take less than 2 weeks to get to my doorstep, excluding US domestic shipping times (and costs).

For Olight stuff, there’s a fanbase of sorts here so there are resellers who offer them at prices that are worth your time and money. A Baton 3 Premium is absolutely gorgeous in bright finishes!

I’m also quite content with on/off for quick uses to a point where I prefer stepped ramping to smooth ramping on whatever I’ll be carrying.  That, and quick access to moonlight too.

For Narsil UI, I’d recommend the Lumintop Frog and GT Nano siblings.  >:D

Though honestly the most I’ve done in Narsil is turn off the parasitic drain light on their button.  The clicky stuff isn’t that far from Advanced UI so it feels familiar (the developers are all in the same forum anyways lol).

They’re not exactly the ‘latest purchase’ but rather the latest configuration I’m taking for a spin. I figured that I don’t think I’ll need the full power of an 18650 battery so the 18350 size should suffice for the stuff I do at home.

Here’s the SC31 Pro and HS40 both sporting 18350 tubes and batteries. Still trying to figure out what’s the better pocket clip for them, if ever….

Be careful when charging the 18350 with the embedded USB-C port of the HS40 : It may charge it to quickly

Loving that TS10!  What’s your feedback on it? Seems to be out of stock most of the time in my neck of the woods  :ahhh

Anyone own a newer release of the IF25A?  I’m quite tempted to get one since it looks good on paper. It’s also USD30 inclusive of a battery and (a separate purchase) pocket clip.  Doesn’t have a magnetic tail though. Looking for a new Anduril 2.0 light to play with.

I'd say "half good" :
It has really cool things going for it, but the clip is awful, it scratched the surface of the flashlight at first try.
I would have loved a deep-carry : so I made kind of one using old Wenger chained o-ring and modified original clip, but it scratches the body even worse than stock clip.

Anduril 2 is quite fun, but its one more UI to remember... I'd prefer it if there were two channels

Broke down and got my first Fenix today.

After about five years or so my i1R EOS from Olight is starting to waver.  It's been on my keychain the entire time over that span and has been incredibly dependable and held a charge very, very well.  I actually have probably 5-6 more of the i1R, all of which came "free" with orders.

But I was at a shop today (MEC for the Canadians) and was actually looking for CR batteries as they used to have them for incredibly cheap (sadly no longer the case) so I looked around and they carry Fenix lights now.  Spur of the moment purchase and I gook home an E02R for the keychain.  It's a little bigger for sure and I'm charging it right now so can't yet do much of a comparison but I'm curious to see how it holds up.  Thing is this little light cost me $30.  Olight doesn't give away the current version of their little keychain light it seems (haven't bought anything for over a year now), rather they sell it for $5.00 or so.  So this is a bit of an experiment to see how long the Fenix will hold up and how it performs in comparison.

Very interested in how this turns out as the Fenix is more expensive than just buying the current Olight (which is substantially larger than the original, I consider you lucky to have spares!). Wondering where the value will come from for the extra $$$

Congrats and hope you like it.

I have owned a few Fenix lights and they are a brand a truly trust.  I used both a Fenix PD22 and a PD25 while in the Navy.  Both lights endured a lot of abuse, without ever letting me down.  The lights always worked despite extreme temperatures, salt water, and 10+ foot drops.

:tu:  On Fenix.  I have a few myself and they've always done what they are supposed to do.  I have 2 LD02s which are among my favorites.  I also have a E05 SS that is very nice.  It did give me some early troubles but I resolved those by tightening the led assembly.  I have another which I cannot recall the model that is my camp light.  Never a issue with it and not treated kindly either.  Rains, heat, humidity, dust, falls, all with out a stumble.

I have owned quite a few Fenix lights over the years.  I’m currently running a PD40R V2 as my primary light and a LD01 (probably time to upgrade haha) on my key chain.

My experience mirrors SOS & Aloha - at work or at play, my Fenix lights have never let me down.

Interestingly the cost now is pretty similar.  I took a peak at the Olight site and they are ballpark $30 for the "pro" version of this light now.  So where it was previously easily and cheap to obtain (so long as you spent more money on other items) it is now a very comparable light pricewise.

First observation is that initial charge time is much longer for the Fenix.  I went to bed after about four hours of charging and it wasn't charged yet.  To do a comarison on the Olight I felt it only fair to charge it up to full power before shining them side by side.  For the Olight it took about 90 minutes to get to full charge.  So much faster, but if you're doing this overnight who really cares.  And to be fair, the Fenix was an initial charge so maybe shorter for re-charge?  Used the Fenix cable to charge the Olight, btw.

Form factor the Fenix is slightly larger, but not appreciably so and it isn't noticeable on the key chain.

Side by side comparison by eye-test is not appreciably difference when both are fully charged.  Low power is negligible on both - it's enough light to see but detail is gone for these old eyes.  High power is frankly great on both and indistinguishable.

By the numbers claims from manufacturers:

Power          run time           distance             impact distance          manufacturer
15 lumens   6.5 hrs              13m                    1m                                 Fenix
5 lumens      12 hrs               not given           1.5m                             Olight
200 lumens 25 min               49m                                                          Fenix
150 lumens  ? hrs                  40m                                                          Olight

Couldn't find the runtime for Olight for high power but it will be considerably shorter.  I expect it to be comparable for Fenix but the Olight has moved on to i1R2 pro so not the same model I have.

What to choose if you have neither?  Tough call, price point is same now, both are IPX8 waterproof.  The Olight has improved so the unit doesn't fully disassemble now as it does with my i1R EOS.  Both 2 year warranty.

One tiny advantage of the Olight: they came with (I don't have any of the pro versions, all mine are the older version) the tiny little key ring on them which the Fenix didn't.  I find that simple difference is an advantage and I pulled the Olight off, put the Fenix on the Olight provided mini ring on my keychain.  I don't think there'd be much movement without it as the attachment point on the Fenix is very sturdy, but not wide enough for my key ring to be super mobile.  Trivialities.  On the Fenix side they came with a spare O-ring which is a nice inclusion.

Something new that arrived over the weekend. I’m currently taking it through its paces. It’s a TS21 with Nichia 219C emitters. Yeah, it’s got the buggy aux light that randomly turns blue. Aside from that, it’s a good sized light that feels good in your hand.

For me, the Fenix sits right between the i1R models and the i3E in terms of size, and just edges forward in terms of performance.

I have both old and new Olight's i1R models (2 EOS and 2 Pro) and they're one of the two Olight models I would actually recommend to anyone... but I still ended up using the Fenix E02R the most.

Quickly comparing the EOS to the Pro and against the Fenix E02R:
Low mode you're looking at 5lm/6hrs, 5lm/12hrs, and 15lm/6.5hrs respectively - Olight technically wins that, but really you need a sub-lumen setting to make such things *that* worthwhile. Otherwise it's mostly just down to personal requirements* and the Fenix has a better low output for 'car key/front door' situations.
High mode is 150lm/15mins, 180lm/23mins, and 200lm/25mins respectively - I would peg Fenix as the winner there, as going to High usually means you need lots more light.

Beam-wise, I find the Fenix has a warmer light and a nicer spread. The harsher white light of the Olight makes it seem brighter than it is, but the difference becomes quite apparent when you come to actually use them. I'm pretty sure all of them came with split rings, though only the Fenix had any spare o-rings.
I also prefer the build quality and just the general feel of Fenix kit. I'm a big fan of Nitecore too, but of the three I generally find Fenix is just the nicest to use in the hand.

*I use the i1R 2 EOS in all my first aid packs as you don't want too bright a light when working close-up, and the smaller size works best for mini IFAKs. The larger torches aren't that much bigger, but the Fenix sees duty on my primary EDC pocket organiser, while the i3E gathers dust on my shelf.

The EOS is £18, Pro is £22, the Fenix is £25. The Olights can sometimes be picked up for a fiver plus another fiver in postage, or occasionally for postage only.

Beyond that, it's all much of a muchness, really.
They're nigh-on the same things and almost the same sizes. I carry much bigger and better torches for most other situations, so these are just back-ups for the back-ups for the back-up lights, and for occasional use in confined spaces, or situations needing the lightest weight, such as hanging from a lightweight tent/hammock guyline.

From a personal perspective, I have had two i1R 2 Pro torches - One I played with briefly, then gave away. The other is still sat sealed in its box, next to my three remaining i1r 2 EOSes, which I always pick up during sale events and give to friends/colleagues when they finally recognise the need for a decent dinky keychain torch.

I had a similar flashlight, but it's not very convenient if you need it for daily use and for a longer period.

Agree.  I think it will be nice for “what if” or the unanticipated use.  If I know I’m going to be needing my light a lot, I is usually my HDS that is with me.

I like this LINK REMOVED from amazon better. They have a lot of features, and one of the best is the battery life, up to nine hours. Also, they come in a set of two, so you can be sure you won't be without a light. It's very easy to carry, and it can illuminate an entire road or mountain on the darkest night. I have tried many flashlights, but this one seems to be the best for price and quality.

I used to choose camping lanterns based on their appearance.

I would often like a flashlight just because its lid was red or because it had cool candy-like buttons, and that sort of thing. It was childlike in me. Now I pick up all the items I need based on their usefulness, compactness, and cost. I don't now get flashlights that turn off in the rain or after falling in a puddle, you know. I'll take a flashlight that is as versatile as possible. The last one I bought was

because I had to walk a quarter mile of cave waist-deep in water. It was a cool adventure, and I'm glad my flashlight withstood the water and mud, dudes.

Haul:

- imini in surprise colour (no intention of opening any time soon)
- i3e in OD green
- i2R Pro in blue
- Warrior 3 S
- Baton 3 Pro
- Patch

Very happy with the performance and feel so far, though the new button design on the baton is weird and messes with my head, just need some time with it.
