Another option for a 1AA light could be a River Rock light from Target.  They are right around $20 and have a tail clicky switch.

I'm considering a Gerber infinity, there seem to be at least a couple variations. I'd like something similar to get for a friend's children. I'd need something a bit cheaper though,as kids tend to lose things rather quickly.

AT $17 from EDCDepot.com, minus 5% for being a Multitool.org member, I doubt you'll find anything better and/or cheaper for your friend's kids!

What do you mean by that? I think the Solitares are quite tough and last awhile!

I seem to have talent in disabling mag lite products. Had one of the AA's die today and the I've managed to wear out one of the solitaires prior to this.

The incandescent bulbs never seem to last in them.  After the first few uses they develop a dark tint to the glass that makes them dimmer.  It's a common drawback to smaller bulb sizes, which is why you can buy Mag bulbs almost everywhere.

That is true,I used to see them at most truck stops all the time, alibiet at a higher "Your Here Now" price.I used to stock up on them if I had to make a delivery at Wally World,Target,Ect.They always seemed to burn out when you least wanted them too.My shopping list that my wife would fill prior to me heading out for another run always had AA's and AAA's on it for my lights.I do way better now with the LED Conversions from NiteIeze.

I would say go with the Inova White-Spotlight. Not the crappy floodlight one. But the Spotlight. Just look at it compared to a normal 1 watt LED flashlight:

The one on the left is the Inova and the one on the right is a Nite Ize 1 Watt MiniMag upgrade. Photo was from 8 feet. And the Inova will still be that sharp at 40 feet in the woods.
