Anyone wear contacts?
on: January 13, 2008, 02:46:06 PM
After wearing glasses for about 5 years I bought contacts.. I am very pleased with them. Acuvue Advance makes the most comfortable lenses... Any of you guys use contacts?

I've been wearing them for maybe 5 years, I like them a lot.  At first they are agrivating to get in and out, but now it's like second nature putting them in every morning.

Another thing I've found...they last longer than it says on the package.  I think I have the ones you can leave in 24/7 for a month...but I use them way beyond that, although I don't wear them 24/7, I take them out at night.  If I put them in and they feel uncomfortable, then I toss them and open a new pair.

I don't wear glasses or contacts, and my eyes are really sensitive.  The very thought of sticking something into my eye on purpose makes them swell and water!

I've got regular clear ones.  Are you rinsing them enough with the solution?  Or maybe they are torn; that can irritate your eye to.  The contact can get a little microscopic rip in it and when you put it in it might not sit well on your eye.  Eye doctors have a little microscope they put the contact in and can see if it's broke.

And Def, you don't even have to touch your eye to get them in...they kind of just suck onto your eyeball  :D

I don't think I'd go for the eye SURGERY though...I'd rather go back to glasses :ahhh

I think the only thing worse than putting them in is the thought of hauling th ebuggers back out.  Glasses or laser beams for me please!

That's even earier than putting them in...just touch the edge of the lens and it breaks the suction; the lense just falls out.

Def, are you aware of what they have to do before they use the laser? :ahhh

As long as they dope me up real good before hand I won't even bother to check if my shirt was tucked or untucked!

Lots of people say they have sensitive eyes, but I got a little shampoo in mine in the shower the other day and almost had to go to the hospital.  The burning and irritation looked like I'd tried to stare down an explosive device and lost, the redness made me look scarier than any movie vampire and I spent the rest of the night and most of the next day walking around like Popeye!

I realize that contacts are much better today than they were even ten years ago, but I really can't ever see me wearing them.  It's not an unfounded squeamishness, it's an actual medical problem!

I've worn contacts for over 20 years, but have gone back to wearing glasses most of the time over the last couple of years because of costs.

I made my first attempt at a 'Nantucket Sailor's Bracelet' this morning and that's the photo I took to show the Cool Glow Stuff cord glowing in the dark(candlelight mode on camera).

A guy I worked with had Lasik done about 5 years ago. He came into my store a few weeks ago and said his eyes are starting to go ever so slightly. No regrets about getting it done but the whole thing isn't permanent. That's the only bad thing or I would've done it. When I'm playing (drums) a gig I like to wear contacts but otherwise I stick to glasses. I gotta try those new Acuvues.

You often have references to it in other programmes as well.  There was even a small clip in the Simpsons (but I expect you already know that). :)

There was even an homage done in Futurama, which is great since Peg Bundy (Katy Sagal) does the voice of Leela.  She ended up meeting another cyclops named Alkazar (Al for short) who was basically a one eyed Al Bundy in a toga!

It was true to the show, which is hard to do in a movie... but then the show has been through so many changes over the years, so it`s hard to define really.

I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

Your right about that.  I have always considered the earlier episodes to be the best, so in comparison to them I was slightly disappointed.  However, like you say, it is true to the show and there were some real funny bits.
