Bladeless SAK Mod
on: January 19, 2012, 02:40:29 PM
Hi everyone,

just trying to get some opinions on a bladeless SAK I'd like to have modded. I want a three layer 84mm Alox Vic that is safe to carry on a plane, and was thinking of the following tool setup:

Can Opener + Bottle Opener
Inline Phillips + Magnifying Glass (or any other tool that fits in this layer)
Scissors

The question is whether the scissors is ok to carry on a plane? If not, any useful suggestions with what to fill the third layer are appreciated.

Thanks for any feedback,

Depending on which country you're flying out of, I seem to recall that screwdrivers weren't even allowed, such as the ones on the openers.  I remember reading that a guy flying out of China had most of his otherwise-legal-to-fly items taken from him, up to and including a Fenix flashlight.

I don't think any sak, blade less or not, would be deemed safe by any airport now.
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

Yep, I dont think it would matter if it was bladeless, it would be taken.  They were even taking fingernail clippers at one point, but I dont know if that's ok now or not.   Kind of silly since you can probably do more damage with a car or house key than a sak screwdriver... but anyway.
PM me or email sakmodder [at] gmail . com if you are looking for custom SAK work.

Thanks for all the replies. It's a shame that security is so high these days. I prefer travelling without checked baggage, which means that I won't be able to carry an SAK with me afterall, not even a bladeless one. Seems sort of pointless to pack a bag to be checked in just to be able to carry an SAK with me :(

I saw a guy get his Screwball keychain taken by TSA while the person in front walked right through with a solid aluminum Apple laptop. Guess which item I would choose in a fight to the death?
