What sites are you looking at?

Atwood's site is:

Planet Pocket Tool

Those are his prices.  Any other site selling Atwoods are likely showing a significant mark up (sometimes over 100%!).

Atwood makes a limited number of tools at a time and sells them for what he feels is fair.  There are a lot of collectors who snap them up.  Some snap up multiple copies of the tool and sell the extras to pay for their collection.  Ebay is a place where the extras go.  There's a place called Moore's Cutlery which sells Atwoods at Stupidly Elevated prices.

Atwood's bladed tools fetch a marked price premium.

Is there a specific tool  (or style tool you're looking for)?  I have an extra prybaby (can't recall the series), an extra E115 and an extra Pest I would sell for what I paid for them.

Not looking for anything in particuliar, the prices i saw were from Bladeart and Moore Cutlery. Around $198. i saw the site you spoke of,,, much better 45$ i think was the priciest. Thats a little better.

with any kind of multi tool (or anything) its ALWAYS better to shop around. like when i got my supertool 300. i got it from amazon for £68 which in the uk is reasonable i fink. but i did see it else ware for prices from £90 to £120. there's always people that try to make too much of a profit.

Don't disregard the atwoods, just shop smart for them. I won't buy them second hand, because the markup is silly, but I tend to buy most of the stuff I manage to catch the sale for from Peter.

Hunting the sales is half of the appeal of the atwood tools. Its just cool to be able to snag something from such a limited quantity. Other one piece tools my work just as well, but Atwoods have the distinction of being functional art.

I'm new to this site.  I have been trying to get an Atwood direct from Peter but they sure do go fast and as discussed the aftermarket prices are very steep.  I have yet to get my hands on an Atwood.  I really like the look of the ghost, mini poltergeist or any with the glow dots ect Can anyone help me out?

What drives me crazy is accessability
The second I get an email telling me they have a new model.  I click over and they're suddenly "out of stock".
Talk about a CONSPIRACY!!! :ahhh

No offense to Peter but as we've said before he may not have a direct involvement with aftermarket pricing, he is certainly encouraging it by making such limited runs.  He knows he could sell twice as many as he produces and yet he doesn't produce more.

It is a business model that has been very successful for him and its great to see a guy succeed, but I have to wonder why he can't support his customers better.

Hang in there- I'm sure if you stick with it you'll get one eventually.

I would appreciate any pointers on getting an Atwood directly from Peter.  Or if anyone has a duplicate or one they are willing to part with that won't cost me an arm and leg.  I am not collecting them I would like one to carry/ use.

Email him directly. He often has a few tools leftover that he's willing to sell.
