Mini Bit Driver
on: January 21, 2012, 11:44:02 PM
Love it or hate it, it might come in handy some day to have it. Myself, I have not used it once on any of my tools that includes it. My wondering mind thought today, since the bit itself is so small, why not include a hole in the handles somewhere to use it and another storage slot somewhere else on the tool? Something like the Skeletool is coming to mind.

The large bit drivers are great for all the different bits you can use (plus extender, all hex bits) but this mini-driver is good only for that 2 sided bit. Seems the space could be used for another folding tool while configuring a storage situation for the mini bit.

Anyone agree/disagree?

I agree with those uses, and I'm not trying to discount its ability and rightful place on the tool, but if there were a small hole it what seems to be fairly thick handles (thinking Charge here) that it would work the same? I suppose if you use it that often then the convenience factor plays in.

Good point. If it was tucked away in a convenient place it would leave room for a nice scraper or awl :tu:

It's useful no doubt (look 2nd post) but one undoubtedly use that space for better purposes (i.e. small scrapper, not the size of ST or may be awl).

That's the real nice idea.
I just tried applying that idea to my precision skil tool set. Couldn't get the adapter out of the extender rod.

Here is a nice idea i thought about,

How about have a conventional 2D LM bit that is an adapter for a precision bit?
Adapter "B" bit will go into the Adapter "A"on the Charge/Wave/Surge/etc. and precision bit will fit into Adapter "B"?

And here is where we disagree, because I think the mini bit driver is a great use of space.

That's the thing about multi's, no one tool pleases everyone.
Fan of the Leatherman mini-bit driver and the Vic backspring philips.
