I might not be a Fan of the Leatherman Line like I used too...(I am very pleases with my Swisstool),but I really like the Concept of an Orange Tool with a Durable Finish..As a Driver I have no idea how many times I have used a Multi Tool on the side of the road somewhere in less tha favorable conditions..As in the Dark and of course Snow while making an Emergency repair to keep rolling. I have had a few "Oh Crap" moments scrambling to locate my Multi where the Orange Color would have been a Godsend..Please ask Leatherman if they would sit down with some Truck Drivers and design a Multi just for Us..There is a whole lot of us folks out here travelling up and down the Highways day in and day out...

Dtrain

Great points there D :salute:  I wonder if they can do one in Glow In The Dark? 8)

I would love to have a Dialougue with Tim Leatherman or an Engineer..A few subtle changes and the addition of what I feel would be a Driver Friendly Sheath System and I feel he would have a hit..but I am just a lowly Driver..But one of thousands lol

Forgive me for throwing a bucket of cold water on the orgy, but I have a techno question.  Remember the problem the Red REI skeletools had when the paint started chipping off?

Was that problem recified with these new Fuses??

The folks at Leatherman tell us that these tools will be given a cera-kote finish, which has a reputation as being much more tough and durable than ordinary paint. However, that being said, it wasn't clear to me if the colored Skeletools were also done in cera-kote...? ???

Yikes - that's not a pretty picture Bob  :o I think with all coatings the key to it will be the key  :P

If they spray the standard polished finish expect one result, and if they bead blast it first expect another. It'll be more a test of adherence rather than the coating itself I'd imagine  :)

Cerakote is a baked on ceramic finish, similar to Vitreous enamel but done at much lower temperatures.

Well I loved the look of the ORANGE FUSE  & I got one the other day. I was really interested in seeing how this cera-kote coating holds up , it looks a lot like the same kind of coating LM uses on it's Camo MTs  , I think that is a type of film though  I was keen to see how the high friction areas would hold up on the orange Fuse. I think these type of coatings struggle on MT's non rounded edges . I was having a close look at where the pliers come in contact with the handles & yep there is already a bit of wear. I think this is except-able IF it does not spread

It does look GREAT & I do like it a lot , I just hope it does not shed it's skin too much

I personally hope it holds up very well as they look very nice and if it does hold up we mite see a growth in the number of colored MTs that we see :tu:

It looks like there is a watch in the combo pack that the orange Fuse was in.   Is Leatherman selling watches now?

If they're as robust as their knives id buy one!
