I really love this one.   :dd:

It needed brass liners which is what started me making all the liners this week.   Blue and brass really does look nice.  :D

I love this blade!  This is the thickest spring I ever made too at 0.155".  A plier spring is 0.125".

Cheers!

Im going to do my own grinding.  Ironically in custom knife making I've done all the parts except actually making blades so I gotta do that, its been bugging me that I havent yet.

I gotta plug the guy that I did the trade with though.  His name is Paul Cooper.  If anyone needs his contact info for custom blade grinding give me a shout.

Ive been practicing on my little grinder and its going ok.  I have blade steel on the way, and Im trying to pick out a good grinder now.    I still have that damascus to turn into blades too, but I dont want to learn on that.  :D

When I had the scissors backsprings originally made they were 0.155 thick, but I had them surface ground to 0.100.  I left about 20 raw that were full thickness.  This was from one of those.  I had to change the profile a bit to work with this blade, but once tweaked it fit like a glove.

Well here is a first for me... a 93mm with ... a fish scaler! :D  I even surface ground down a spring to 0.060" to work perfectly with it.  Very thin layer.  To give you some perspective, the pliers layer in a swiss champ has liners that are 0.050" thick.

This one also has the seldom requested natural hard anodize which is a matte gray color.  It works really well with red liners.

Cheers :D

Yep 2 sets left.  I ran a batch of 10 a long long time ago, and they rarely get asked for.  I guess they look too similar to stock scales.  In person though they look much different.

So that big pile of backsprings I had made for scissors is getting to a criically low amount.  It was 222 and now I have about 40 left.  Since 99% of people want scissors on alox, I figured I better get on making more before I was right out.

Admiral steel is awesome and ships to Canada.  I got a 6 ft package this morning. :D

Thats some 440c goodness.

Their annealed hot rolled runs over spec, but they couldn't give me an exact measurement on the phone. So I took a gamble and ordered the 3/32.  The springs final thickness should be 0.100.  When I busted out the calipers this measures 0.110 so Im good to go. That leaves a bit to grind off after heat treat but that works for me.  The last batch I ordered 1/8 and that was 0.155 thick, so it needed way too much grinding.

Now to shop around for a waterjet quote and see who wants to give me a deal. :D

Today was also scale stripping day.  Ive been fiddling around with the NaOH bath I use for stripping and different catalysts, and today I am finally completely happy with the process.  These stripped in 15 seconds and have no pitting.  See that chemistry degree paid off after all. :D lol

Here's some parts porn! :D I was doing some parts inventory to see what I had.   I upgraded from my dollar store bins to these style, works out nicer.  These are all my brand new parts.  Used parts dont get treated so nice and are just in a bucket out in the shop

Most people collect MTs and SAKs, but more and more I feel like Im a parts collector.  Ive been hording hard to find old parts and scales.  Someday they'll get made into cool stuff.

Here my 58 mm stuff. Not too much for it.  Mostly Ive used up what I had, although Ive got some BO'd 58s parts not in there.

This is what I have left from my 84mm modding.  I still have a few mods in the queue to finish, but other than that, I dont plan on doing many more.

Lots of 91mm parts.  These are the parts I actually use.

These are parts which sometimes get used.  So many corkscrews!

And these are liners and springs... lots of liners and springs.

93mm parts.

93mm scales.

93mm liners.  These are the ready to use ones.  The raw cut brass and Al are in the shop.

This is what I call my prepped parts box.  All parts in here are drilled for my pivots, polished and cleaned ready to go on mods.  I find this handy as I can grab what I need for a job then go make it.

My scale tools box.  Ive been careful and saved all the bushings, so I have tons of spares.

I forgot my boxes of screws and pivots as well, but thats most of my parts collection.  :D

I like it. :D Also quite a few metal files/saws. I'm surprised they don't get requested more. I use a metal file quite a bit more than I use the wood saw.

This one arrived today! That was fast, it took only three days to get from Canada to the Netherlands! :mail:

It's my second Syph007 custom and I have to say I love it. The overall quality and fit & finish are way above Victorinox standards. The polished brass liners and spacer and the polished backsprings are gorgeous. The gray scales are so much nicer than stock ones (with their small imperfections around the edges). The tools, including the scissors, open and close beautifully. It's a work of art.

Excellent work Robert
