Retiring my Rescue...back to my OHT
on: January 21, 2012, 05:01:22 AM
After carrying my Rescuetool for several years now I have decided to go back to my OHT for carry when I am at work..I am not disapointed at all with the job that it has done..It performed the tasks I asked of it admirably..However I do miss the utility of the can opener and the usefulness of the standard woodsaw.

My Biggest concern the more I think of it if I had an accident in the Truck would be cutting my Seatbelt..My OHT or the Rajah III I have been carrying as of late will more than accomplish this task..I will always stand up for the quality and thought that Vic put in to the Rescue Tool...Just a bit more specialized than I need..Looking at the RescueTool now if I could make a change I would have added a layer so somehow the can opener could be included..I do think that even if someone is not a Fireman or EMT the RescueTool would be great to toss in the Glovebox or where legality is not an issue velcroed securely to a Visor or maybe even the Seatbelt itself..

Thanks for letting me share

No point in wasting so much money to secure a rescue tool to a seatbelt, and probbaly a very bad idea in terms of real safety.  Just get one of the very simple cutters and window breakers designed for such usage.  To free yourself it is not the right tool.  To have it for other emergencies, secure it in the vehicle in another location, if one has a driver's side door pocket, that would maybe be ideal.

I really like what Vic did with the recue tool, of course like many SAKs, not the one for me but I still love it.
