Nite Ize Figure 9 Rope Tightner!
on: January 20, 2008, 12:37:16 AM
I bought a large and small one of these at a True Value hardware store today. I also bought the same bit set that Calvin had with all weird types of bits including security torx for only $20! I couldn't pass up on the deal! The figure 9's are the coolest things ever! Anyone else have any?

Yup.

I'm not sure how cool they are though, everyone laughs at me and asks why I don't just tie a Truckers knot.

I use the Large with fairly standard 6mm rope. Seems to work.

I suppose for $10 it doesn't hurt to grab a pair for the car, y'never know when it might come in handy.

Cool, but yeah I think they are useful becuase its easy to untie the knot and it holds 50 pounds of tension easily! The reason I like it is because it can make a piece of string or rope you tied too loose-tight in seconds!

I have been looking at those for a while at Lee Valley Tools.  I think I may have to get a set now.

Heyoh! I wanted to ask about the #9 and forgot all about it.  I think it's a cool thing, though I haven't used or held one yet. I don't know where to get one around here but I'd like to get one. Is it too big to EDC on a carabiner?

Well, they make two one could still be EDCable on a carabiner.. Make it an S Biner and you will be doube Nite Ize!sizes: large and small. The small one I find works perfect with 1/8 in paracord.. But the large will hold up to 150 lbs and the small holds 50 lbs.. They make a really cool one now with a carabiner on the end to clip onto like anchor points.. Hell, that would be perfect-use that carabiner!
