I actually meant more user experiences (with the wood saw, file and inline Phillips screwdriver).

I will seriously consider the Explorer Plus

Its my favorite, when I am carrying a full sized SAK.  For me, it has about the right combo of tools.  I end up using the magnifier and tweezers about as much as anything, though the phillips that folds out 180 degrees (as God intended) is awesome too.

  • I EDC a cell phone
I have a NIB huntsman
My favourite edc SAK is my camo huntsman. It just has the best tool layout for me, my saw has actually seen quite a bit of use.

Camo huntsman you say? Like this one?

(Image removed from quote.)

I have a NIB camo huntsman laying around here somewhere.
I tried to sell it on the forums and no one wanted it.
I think I'm going to try and find it. (too many knives)

I recommend the Explorer. I've tried EDCing other SAK's and I always go back to it. I pair it up with my LM Freestyle and for me it's the perfect when I'm off duty.

Thanks for all the responses. It was very interesting to read everyone's input. The Explorer (Plus) seems to be the most popular choice, so I will go with the Explorer Plus.

I'm late to the party, but you should be happy with the Explorer Plus; it's a wonderful combination of tools; the Huntsman and Fieldmaster are nice, but if I need a saw, well, I have a SwissTool Spirit X. ;)

  • I'm not a pessimist, I'm an experienced optimist!
If you've not pulled the trigger yet ... sorry to muddy the waters slightly .... but I recently got a Voyager Lite and it's brilliant! You do lose the mag glass, but do gain a (albeit feeble) torch, with alarm clock and countdown timer. It's still got the min driver, pen and pin too.

I don't wear a wrissmurfch, so it might be more of a gain to me though

The only thing to note, in my opinion, is the LED light is too easy to turn on accidentally.  Plus, there are so many good, inexpensive lights (Fenix E01 at $13) that put out much more light for far longer, with a standard battery format, that makes me not consider the LED SAKs at all. :/

I can't argue with either of those points, and in fairness I might ask a modder to swap the light out for a mag glass at some point. Till then it does serve as a back up light, or low level reading light (great for tasks such as map reading as a passenger when you don't want to blind the driver). I still really like the alarm clock though  :D

That's what I suggested :)

You Won't Be Disappointed With The Explorer.
I Had An Explorer And Hadn't Really Expected It To Be My Favorite But It Was.
It Even Beat Out The Huntsman For Me!! That's Crazy Cause Everyone Loves The Huntsman.
I Do Too, But The Explorer Was Definitely My Baby.
But I Had A Custom SAK Coming In.. And Well It's The New Baby And Zed Has The Explorer Now Lol.
