Tools every multitool nut should have...
on: January 22, 2008, 03:13:26 AM
What tools to do you think every multitool nut should own?

A few months back the SwissTool/Spirit was the only tool on the list.  Considering the amount of threads dedicated to the SURGE lately, should we add it to the list?

Every multitool nut absolutely must have an old Leatherman PST. It's right there in the bylaws, page 7, section 3.  :police:
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

Crap... I'm in violation of Section 3!!!  I better remedy that before someone files a grievance!

Haha... when I typed that, I had actually typed SURGE!!!... but the exclamation points looked strange in the middle of the sentence.  I'll make sure it doesn't happen again!

I'd agree that the pst should definately be on the list. Two other tools I'd be sorely tempted to add would be the micra and the supertool. The micra becuase it is a handy scissor tool that is fairly robust(at least to me) for its size. The origional supertool becuase it helped introduce the idea of locking blades and the tool selection seemed to set the standard for most other tools by leatherman and of other companies that came after it.

I am serious. Every MT user should have a cheap set of long screwdrivers. If your MT fails to reach some deeply buried screws, you can always use the long screwdrivers to save the day.

Has to be the PST and the Original Supertool, but I would say a true nut should have a Gerber with the flick out pliers.  Everyone should have had a go with them.

I'd say that a multitool nut should strive to have at least one representative from the big four plier-tool companies;

Gerber
Leatherman
SOG
Victorinox
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

You bet Mike!

The LM Surge I believe is the tool every multitool enthusiast should own! If I could only have one tool it would be the LM Surge.. I think I will make a post on that!

I think every multi-tool(SAKs included) should have 1-2 of these for backup.

Another trend setter, the Sideclip.  It's the one that started the clip fad with multitools.  The Wave, Charge, Kick, etc., all owe their clips to the Sideclip.  Every multi-nut should have one of these.
