Simple marriage
on:
February 08, 2012, 03:02:09 AM
Looking for simple ideas on a wedding. Me and the fiancé and tying the knot soon and we both would like some ideas. Not a lot of money to spend but still want something nice. Any ideas? Thanks people.
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

Congratulations! Depending on the time of year, maybe something outside? Maybe look into local chapels, usually more affordable.

Congrats. Find a nice local restraurant you like and ask them if they'll do a private function. That will naturally limit your guest list to the size of the restaurant.

Congratulations mate
me and my partner of 10years got hitch last year, we also didnt have a lot to spend so was going to do it small scale, we planned on only 2 friends as witnesses and a meal after with our firends, well as worried about family problems we told everyone and it got bigger, we was lucky though as my wifes side of the family paid for the meal for everyone and her nieces and nephews paid for us both to stay at the hotel after, also my mum and step dad paid for the rolls royce,we was lucky but too be honest i still wish we kept it small, i hope you find a way to do it and keep it on your budget, good luck

It depends what you like, but:
1. IMHO you can go somewhere on nice long weekend and then get married, that way you can have honeymoon too. I think you in States can get nice deals (and low cost) on vacation trips.
2. When someone here wants a simple small wedding, and traditional one, they go to monestery and get beautifull small wedding, and the only expense is traveling there and what they donate. Take care that my country is like few hours end to end
3. Vegas?!? Why not?!?
4. A friend of mine went camping w/friends. And got married there...

Take the vows on the highest point in your state of residence. (Just don't get married in Alaska!

That reminded me...
We here have a TV show called 48hrs marriage.
If you apply what you need need is to organize entire wedding in 48 hrs and TV pays for everything and you get a honeymoon trip as wedding gift... So you need to get a limo, wedding dress for bride, your suit, restaurant, wedding cake, music.... All is more or less reality show...
So, if you want to apply...
Sometimes newly wedd haven't even applied, someone else did it as a prank (best man, friends, cousins), eventually they ended up tied up...
So if you give me bride to be name and all (yours I know), well.... Expect cameras on your doorstep...

Simple old fashioned wedding would be what I'd do. Outdoors with a few people. If you're feeling like being different, get a friend ordained online and he/she can marry you and perform the ceremony. I wanted to do that but my wife wanted a 'proper' official.

Congrats also!
It's best to keep it small. Close family and friends. Start by deciding how many people you're going to have. Do you want food? Music?, etc. Decide the 'features' you want first, then how many people, then choose a location that will allow you to have those kinds of things. Those are the biggest things to deal with. After that, it's all details.
The first Noble Truth: life is suffering. Only by accepting that fact can we transcend it.

First off, congrats, Steve!
Each of my parents remarried in small ceremonies at local restaurants that they had rented for the day. Nice and simple, with small, easygoing receptions.

When the wife & I got hitched, we ended up doing it on the cheap, since our job had not payed us for several months... yes, we were both working for the same company... we spent most of our money on the thing that would last, our rings.
The wife made her outfit, and her bouquet, and we ended up going to Chelsea Registrar Office in London, it was just us, two friends as witnesses, and a third friend playing photographer. We blagged our way into a private garden there for a photo shoot, and afterwards we went to a pub in the area which our friends had arranged, and a bunch of our other friends and co-workers came to meet us there... everyone chipped in a bit of cash and paid for all the food and drink... and we got a black cab home... ironically, there was a tube strike that day... and our cabby took us past Big Ben on the way home... it was a great day on the cheap, definitely memorable.
The difficult we do immediately, the impossible takes a little longer.
