small pliers + bit driver
on: February 09, 2012, 12:16:17 AM
Anyone aware of any 'small' tools - can be as big as a 91mm SAK, or juice, which have a substantial pair of pliers, and a bit driver?

Don't need/want a knife, but scissors would be a plus.

I plan on fulfilling this need of mine with a SAK mod, just wondering if there any other tools out there.

The only other one I can think of is the skeletool, where you could replace the knife with scissors.

A modded juice could fit your needs if you replace the blade with something else.

Thats exactly what Im trying to do right now to replace the 3 flat drivers.  There is less space though and I dont think the wave one will fit, nor do I have a spare so Im trying to fabricate one.   Id find the juice much more useful with a normal bit driver.

The thing is, whenever I consider any alternatives to the cybertool bit driver, first of all it is difficult to find many minimalist tools which have a bit driver, and the ones that do, don't have any way of storing bits.

The cybertool bit driver really is close to perfection not only in terms of the reach and 90 degree semi-locking capability, but also because it wastes no space in also giving you a way of storing several other bits.

I agree, but its really a tradeoff.  The way I see it if the bits are the most important, go SAK with cyber tool layer and pliers that are just ok, not great.  If pliers are more important you have to go juice and be happy with the stock drivers or see if you can get a bit adapter on there.

The bits being stored IN the tools is pretty darn nice though you're right.  The skeletool isn't bad though, I do like mine.  If you swapped the main blade for scissors you'd have a pretty good tool as you can store 2 double ended bits on the tool itself.

Yes you are right, the skeletool mod with scissors instead of the blade is a very nice minimalist mod for the UK.
