I have a few questions- let's start with the obvious one:

WTF?

Are hammers so expensive in Germany that this makes sense?  Because they are dirt cheap here.

It's not often I find myself disassembling playgrounds or guardrails, but I think if I did, I'd probably just bring a hammer along with me.

I'm afraid I just don't see any benefit to this thing at all, but I assume it has a hefty price tag to go along with it, making it that much more pointless....

Not for me thanks.

Come on Grant, who said anything about being practical? LOL! Though I have to admit I have used my ratchet as a hammer on more than one occasion. But yeah, I don't really see this in my toolbox any time soon either.

I've used a ratchet as a hammer too and it worked well enough, so I don't see the point of this.

While they are at it why not also make a screwdriver hammer, a shovel hammer and an ice cream scoop hammer?  I like pointless things, but this seems a little strange even for me.

So when Leatherman puts a hammer on the MUT it's very cool, but if Ze Germans combine a ratchet & hammer we don't like it at all?
I don't get it :ahhh

I think that's quite smart actually! I can see it being very useful, and like that they've got the alignment tool too. All made by a tried and tested manufacturer as well  :tu:

Acyually for some errection tasks it is fairly reasonable , there are both pipe and adjustable wrenches with strike faces . Wera is a thoughtfull maker of quality stuff . I'm sure they have a target market . One I could see is the industrial shelving industry ( used pieces sometimes need to be tapped into place ) .

Looks a heck of a lot better than what I imagined when I read the title that's for sure. I don't need one but maybe mechanics and HVAC techs?

Wera is quite a well known, high quality manufacturer in Germany. The Hammer ratchet is made for a small niche market. Scaffolding is held mostly by 17/19 mm hex nuts and bolts and pins or chocks.
So most scaffolding builders used their ratchets as a hammer anyways, destroying them on a regular basis or - even worse - popping off the socket with a "hammer" blow of teh ratchet, eventually hitting someone 5 stories further down.

So i can see a - limited - group of peaple taking good use of this tool and from now on only carrying the Wera instead of a Hammer and a ratchet.

Here is the tool on the Wera website http://www-us.wera.de/catalog_us.html?L=1&file=/en-US/ratchets_koloss.html

I did a search on amazon & they on 'special' for $113  :o , for $50 or $60 I would be tempted , I like them , a real quality whacker + socket ratchet  8) 8) 8) 8). A little expensive for me but if you where a scaffold worker I reckon they would be mighty handy
