It is finished: Grand Prix variations
on: February 16, 2012, 03:34:47 AM
I finally got a round Phillips w/can key Grand Prix as made from the 1982-85 time frame today.

As such, I THINK the Grand Prix variation collection is complete.  Here are pics.....with descriptions and differences.   Eventually, I will make better pics (I need a green-felt background, have a black one-a pistol-cleaning rug, but feel the green looks best for background).

Here we go:

Model T side:

TL: Late 1990's, no bottom fine screwdriver, multi-purpose hook, round Phillips no can key, hole in awl.  This is the only variation with key-ring attachment.
BL: Early 1990's, no bottom fine screwdriver or mulit-purpose hook, round Phillips with can key, hole in awl
TM: Late 1980's, newer bottom fine screwdriver, round Phillips with can key, hole in awl
BM: Early 1980's, older bottom fine screwdriver, round Phillips with can key, no hole in awl
TR: Early 1970's, older bottom fine screwdriver, squared Phillips with can key, no hole in profiled tip awl, Gold-tone Model-T and Swiss cross emblem
BR: Late 1970's, older bottom fine screwdriver, squared Phillips with can key, no hole in awl, Silver-tone Model-T and Swiss cross emblem

Backside:

Very nice! Not quite complete though - I don't see any Victoria models in there. Clip point blade, old style scissors, Victoria tang stamp:

If you want to get ridiculously nit=picky, there also two other minor variations that I've seen of the ones you have above: TM with the old style screwdriver and TL with screw-jointed scissors.

I have not seen those for sale before.  Thank you for the heads up...I will now look for one of those.

I have 2 extra Grand Prix's....both square Phillips.  I am going to give one to my father in law..he has a 2001 Corvette convertable and likes cars.  The other.....hmmm...don't know yet.
