A Surge Screwdriver Mod
on: February 05, 2008, 07:19:56 AM

I purchased a US$1.05 screwdriver. Pull out the steel rod. Use a metal file to grind down one end so it fits Surge's bit holder. The width is a perfect fit. I only need to make it a little thinner.

These bits are much smaller than the standard bits. It comes with 6 bits: 3 flat and 3 Philips. They are all smaller than LM's double-ended replaceable bit.

Total costs: $1.05 and 20 minutes.

The picture is miserable. I did not bother to take good pictures today.

Careful with that mod- I don't think that the T shank holder doodad is meant for the kind of torque you put on most screws.  I'd hate to see it blow out the sides on you.

It's the screw bit holder. Not the T-shank holder. The cheap screwdriver's steel is pretty soft. I think if I abuse it, it will break first. Thank you!

D'oh!

That makes much more sense now!  Sorry, it's been a long day, and it still has another 15 hours or so to go!

Now I see rust on my SAK's metal file. The quality of the "steel" seems to be ... well ... you get your money's worth.

By the way, I think the SAK's metal file is much better than LM's metal file.
