Wait a tick, so I'm here and this is all just Grant and his splintered personalities talking to himself!? :twak: I love this place, it's the only forum I've ever been on and proud of it! I've met a solid friend here and consider everyone else here a friend I haven't met yet. Thank you Grant and everybody who contributes here. I hope I can say this again ten years from now (it's really starting to look like I will)!

Actually BP, I have to ruin your fantasy- you are also one of my many personalities.  That's the real reason we couldn't meet up when you came to my neck of the woods.

Sorry to break it to you in public like this.  I'm sure you/me,we/us will get over it though.  :D

Want to get a good laugh?  Travis is going to kill me for posting these, but I was searching for something else when I came across these on an external drive.

These are the original concept logos for Multitool.org- or as we kept calling it at the time, Multitool.com.  I don't know why we kept calling that- the domain was registered as .org from the very beginning, and I just assume that we hadn't gotten into the habit of saying "dotorg" just yet!

This was the very first attempt.  I had no idea what I had in mind, but I was telling Travis that I wanted a machinery/industrial look to it, possibly incorporating multitools and this is what he came up with.  I like the hex nuts instead of the "o's!"

Sadly, it was not what I'd initially intended- I wanted something more logo-ey, and less font-ey, so Travis filled it out a bit more and we got this:

I liked it better than the first one, but it still really didn't appeal to me.  I mentioned to Travis that I thought the old Iron Man comic book logo was cool, and he came back with this:

I can't say for sure what my initial reaction to it was, but since it hasn't changed in all these years I'm assuming I liked it from the get go.  This is the very first real incarnation of the Multitool.org logo.  It's been altered and modified from time to time, simplified for laser etching or silkscreening, but every other version of the logo you see is a modified version of this right here.

All of these were taken from the original .pdf files Travis sent me, and are as authentic as they come.

Stay tuned- I have a bit of an embarassing series to post next!  :D

Somewhere between the first two logos I was trying to come up with ideas, and at the time I thought it might be neat to try and make the letters out of multitools, which is likely why Travis made the "M" into a bizarre, deformed Leatherman Minitool lookalike!

I always assumed the finished product would be a created image rather than a photo, but I have no photo manipulation skills whatsoever, so I decided to try and take photos of what I meant to properly communicate the idea to Travis.  These photos were the result, and yes, I realized the error included in the second one almost instantly, but I never expected anyone besides Travis and I to see them!   :ahhh

Note that this was during the phase where we were still calling it Multitool.com.  And now, for your viewing pleasure, for the first time ever (I know, because I just did it! :P) the original concept logo for Multitool.org (.com) in my mind!

Despite the pigtails and blouse photos, the images of me in the shower and so on, these photos are probably the most embarassing things I've ever posted on this site!  Enjoy!  :D

The original concept logo was perfect, except that the bottle cap should have been flipped over.

Just imagine how long the write up is going to be when we hit our tenth anniversary!  :D

Those don't actually exist- that's a Photoshop job.  The only way to make something like that viable is to order a minimum of 10,000 units, so don't expect to see them any time soon!

Although they are really cool!  :D

An MT.O fish like that would rock! I'd buy one for a rather silly price, probably buy two or three if the price was not too bad. Or, to put it in September speak (for the oldies in the audience): Me too!

Actually, I did remember it- you can see it on the Gallery Page!  I just didn't include it because it was pretty small and the watermark kind of got in the way.  But, in the interest of fairness, here it is!  :D

An MTO fish is apparently a possibility, assuming a bunch of things go right.
