Yes indeedy. With those thick cast aluminum handles combined with lots of spacers between the blades, the 800 ends up being a real handful. :-\

Yeah, but I find the handles to be quite comfortable. Oh, and my Dad swears by his 800 Legend!

Nothing wrong with the big handles mind you, but it does help if you've got big hands. (I don't)  :)

the thickness makes it not a good EDC.

Nice pictures of my EDC tools.  The 800 for weekends and around the house and the Spirit for workdays.  The 800 knife is really handy to employ, I wish some of the others would have the same feature.  The size of the handles is not a factor for me, the only limitation that I see with the 800 is the limited jaw opening of the pliers.

I don't think that my hands are that big but I find the handles on my 800 great really comfortable it has seen regular use at work including housebreaking forcing entry and removing various panels when searching premises all with no complaints

So, how many of you actually carry the 800 for everyday use?

I've been toying with the idea of going to my Legend since my Old Wave has been retired. Quite frankly, I'm not crazy about the Legend (it just doesn't fit me well, nothing directed at Gerber in particular), but I'd rather wear it out than the Wave. I have a modified sheath with the extra fittings and saw blades, so the Legend might come in handy.

Thanks, Bill.

That's not a very good price.. You could get one at WalMart for $70.. Oh, and you could do a hell of a lot better on eBay!
