Thanks guys. Had a fitful sleep last-night. Annie kept me company the whole night. Seems a bit odd this morning. I mean, Gracy was the food driven cat, and I am not used to not having to trip over her as she did her usual slowing S patterns at my feet each morning.

Ah well...life goes on.

I swept away a tear when I got home from bringing Jake to the vet (where he had to stay over night).
Coming in without him being in his regular spot broke me.

And that was nothing compared to this!!

It is what it is. I swore up and down that I would never take in another pet after my Sabien passed away. A year later I am rescuing a pair from the Human Society. I knew that these were older cats, and that THAT time would come sooner or later. Pets give so much back, that they do become family. I am thinking once my last cat passes away, that will be my last. I got really rocked with Gracy's passing. So much so that I did a bit of retail therapy and bought a 22 rifle that I have been eyeing for 5 years.

I won't lie and say this is any easier though. As I type this on my computer, I keep expecting to see Gracy, or to deal with some of the mischievous things she got into. What amazes me is how well Annie is taking this. Cats are so pragmatic to a fault it is scary.
