I wonder what else you guys use your scissors for, and if it is more often than those of this poll?

Cutting my nails, hence "other".

I think you should add it to your poll :)

I trim Calibration stickers with mine. Sometimes they don't fit on the piece.

Done. I also reset all the votes to 0, so please vote again, if you already voted before.

That is certainly one use where a knife wouldn't do!

I'd say cutting paper is probably 60% of all the tasks I do with scissors. Trimming loose threads is probably my next most common use. Then trimming wild hairs. I've done very little detagging.

Cutting frayed threads from my shorts. I did try to use them once to cut my gambling losses in Las Vegas...but, sadly, they didn't work all that well. (d'oh!)

Mostly de-tagging clothes (my vote) and cutting loose threads. Funnily enough, I always trim my finger nails with a knife. Haven't used clippers or scissors for that since I was a kid. I have a Classic with my keys, but scissors really aren't important in EDC for me, I was pretty close to voting "knife for everything" option.

People who think scissors are important in a SAK just don't keep their blades properly sharpened.  ;)

Dittos to what Steinar had to say what he uses his scissors for. I also use them for cutting moleskin patches for my worn out feet when hiking, to opening up the daily mail.

Cheers,

For me it's mostly loose/stray threads, and errant whiskers in my mustache... and also nose hairs too.  (Yeah, I know, gross on the surface level, but come on... who of us hasn't used them for that? Okay, well, maybe not the gals...  )

After that it's probably string or cord, paper, and so on.

This is exactly how my husband used his. Nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed of, IMO. We're mammals.

Yeah, after a while every man really has to think about trimming nose hair. :-\  Yet another task I'd not attempt to do with a knife. ;)

Back to the OP and I've said trimming nails, though all of the above are done regularly.

I don't use scissors nearly as often as the blades, and when I do it's either to open a parcel (cutting those plastic straps) or for first aid (cutting plaster or cutting skin to remove a plaster)

Bit of this bit of that, mostly on tasks that cannot be done safely with a knife, so can't really say which is most often. No nail though, I have nail clipper for that.

Lots of nail trimming. Makes me wonder why the Wenger models with the clippers are not more popular. I'm told a nail clipper makes a wonderful trimmer for fishing line as well...

I think you guys have just helped me decide on my next SAK:

They also have a model with a micro screwdriver instead of the blade, for TSA-proof air travel. I think next time I lose a Classic or Rambler to TSA, I'm going to buy one of these to replace it:

Hangnails , and trimming labels . Assorted delicate tasks , the Klien electrician's scissors come into play for the bigger stuff .

I cut thin wire close to the tip of connectors in the field. Generally works better than most dedicated wire cutters and is much better than bypass Leatherman cutters.

I used the scissors on my Compact yesterday to tidy-up a few mustache hairs were bugging me.

The scissors on SAK's absolutely rock! I would be very reluctant to attempt trimming my mustache with a knife blade! Ouch!

Since my EDC SAK doesn't have scissors, I really only use the scissors on my classic to trim my mustache.

For mono yes, but modern braided lines just get squished.

I think it's not very popular just because not many people EDC nail clipper to begin with, it's not something you would need right away.
