Yes you could take the Surge and try to get it duplicated but doubled in size as long as you left out the Leatherman name and you didn't try to sell it as such. With that said I doubt anyone would do it as you would have to make every single part from scratch which would be very hard and time consuming. Leatherman has all sorts of very expensive machines designed to make the tools. While it is possible it would be very expensive and "nearly impossible" in my opinion.

Maybe one of our modders can give you a better idea of how much work or the possibility of doing it would be.

I wouldn't do it, I was just wondering if it was legal or not.

Well who knows right, maybe I might become crazy rich one day :D

You sound like me when I received my Surge two months ago.
I wonder if you would still want a bigger tool in two months.
I got exhausted from hauling it around town, i am down grading to Wave.

I still EDC it in computer case, just not on person. (Yes, I EDC a 15 lbs computer case for work, adding another lb to it isn't a big deal.)

Yes, I have both version of surge, new one has much better fitting, have all the same sharp conners, just file them down.

Thanks for the pic Kampfer :)

I think I'm not going to get one after all, it doesn't seem worth it and I rather get something else later that I might really want, like a cool flashlight or something like that.

Instead of getting a bigger tool, i suggest you work on getting accessories to accompany the Surge, jig saw blades, bit extension, bit kit, pocket wrench or piranha, flash light, a secondary blade, those will add another lb to your load out and you will have a great set of tools.

I was thinking instead of a pocketwrench I could get a crunch or some vise grips, because those sort of do the same thing and it would give more capability.
