I want to complain about the price, but instead I bought a pink one for my daughter.

So I picked up one of the new black Micras. Yeah, I know, but I wanted to spend $50 so I could get another Insider Mug
Anyway, I was surprised to discover that it is noticeably thinner. Instead of the outside painted SS jacket, they used some sort of coating (DLC?). Here's some pics... hopefully you can see what I mean.

That's black? Looks more like a pretty dark gray to me.

I think that's just the light - it looks more black in person.

I'm guessing it's a low-gloss black. That, plus the lighting, would explain why it looked gray to me.

LM have tried a veriety of ways to make coloured Mircas over the years. Your older one is, I think, an anodised aluminium "skin" that's basically been installed over a regular stainless Micra. Their previous attempt to paint a colour on the stainless steel has always resulted in a very flaky finish very quickly. I hope this new process proves to be more robust.

I agree, and the engraving does appear classier than the painted version😉
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!
Hope yours is as good!

I am liking the new version, Rich
The variations of Micra with their different colors, methods for putting colors on them and the different shells (plastic,
aluminum etc) almost, if not, exceed the number of PST variations
