Well the recent study shows Leatherman only appreciated by left-handed people, so yeah, makes sense.

Kidding, happy April 1st

We can’t go camping or anything like that so using our tools at home is the only option

Tried Signal for slicing potatoes after yesterday’s blade touch up - man that thing is scary sharp 🪒

Weekend - a great time to fix something around the house

We recently have issues with the smoke exhaust or whatever you call that thing in the kitchen that sucks out all the smoke in English correctly

It for some reason started to either turn it or off randomly.

Decided to disassemble it and sadly found out that the logic board is not isolated from steam and moisture in any way... poor design decision really

Anyway still thinking about any possible diy solutions to the problem and having fun with tools.

Started with a Signal cause it’s always beside me

But quickly switched to the Wave with a bit extender- haven’t used it for a while really - waaay more comfortable if you have a choice

Being done with those screws switched to Signal pliers this time and Wave won again - needlenose pliers suit much better for the limited space I had to deal with and the grip is much narrower with Wave:

Those pliers on the Signal are surely stronger, yet in the wild I would probably only lift some pots off the fire from time to time

Overall Signal is a great outdoor tool for me, but for household queries Wave seems to just be better.

My lady asked to make an old pvc pipe waste of friendly so I gave all my tools another test:

In this round we have a clear tie - the saw is basically the same.
The coolest thing about it for me is that despite years of service the saw on a Wave is still sharp and amazingly capable, just as a pretty much mint Signal saw

One more thing: I added a Vic Forester to the test as well. Despite the fact I totally prefer LM saws for wood cutting - safely locking, more controlled and less force involving if you will - it actually won the round against LMs this time probably due to less resistance from the soft plastic

So I fixed it. Seems like steam has been engaging those touch sensors randomly.
After thinking through the issue for a considerably serious amount of time I decided to somehow isolate the logic board from moisture and today decided to give it a try.

Bought this cool Dremel glue gun and poured hot glue all over the contacts on the logic board. After the first test is still switched the lights on randomly but way less, so disassembled again, fixed those spots I missed and after the second test things seem to be pretty smooth

Here are the tools I used for this task greeting the new member

I've been busy working on the new home. Last night the Surge pliers pulled up a few sections of old carpet and the serrated blade cut about 6' of carpet. Sorry, no pics  :'(

All of the screw drivers have been used many times taking apart and putting back together cabinets, light fixtures, etc. The Surge has had a workout the past few weeks.

Another cheap plastic toy repair, the longer we stay home the more stuff breaks. Or maybe I'm just looking for excuses to use my own toys  :dunno:
