How Do They Do It
on: May 17, 2012, 12:12:52 AM
I recently posted about an episode of How Do They Do It on the SciHD channel, filmed in Ibach Switzerland, on Victorinox production. It showed again today, but if anyone is interested, it will air again on 5.22 at 6:30 PM Central Time, and also at 1:30 AM on 5.23. It's channel #284 if you have DirecTv.

thanks for that video link! it's really hard to imagine how they can assemble 35K knives a day, as was stated in a recent article. having never personally attempted to mod an SAK, after watching that video, i am curious how you guys that do mod these knives manage to dis-assemble them considering the way that they are pressed together? perhaps one day i will try to take one apart? kudos to all of you who create some of the mod'ed masterpieces i have seen in this forum!
Shoot low, they might be crawlin'

Let me find a decent sharing site and I'll upload the video; it's only about sixteen MB.

Thanks for uploading that. Wow, the sharpening part. I always thought Victorinox kept that a secret. Or is this not the way it's normally done?

I believe that this is for the more complex SAK's and that the machine sharpening of the mass produced models is still considered a trade secret.

There is another video somewhere showing the Classic's and the similar sized models flowing out of a machine like water out of a faucet. And in that video (or perhaps even a third one) it shows a worker rolling a bin of those blades into a room where cameras are not allowed.
