I have only seen the Rebar on Internet or here in MTO as it is not yet available in our country.

I see in Xelkos's post      http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,30927.0.html     that the Rebar features "Removable handle inserts". I have never seen anybody mentioning them after they bought the tool, neither can I see anything on any photograph posted.

What is "Removable handle inserts" and can you post a picture?
Regards
Johan

That is weird, because there are no handle inserts to be spoken of.  I don't know why that's there, but Xelkos probably copied and pasted that from Opticsplanet's website.

Hammer, what on your thoughts on the REBAR?
I really like the Rebar.  The pliers are a wee bit larger than the pliers on the Wave yet not as large as the  pliers on the Surge.  The Rebar has a fantastic fit and feel.  The pliers meet touching at the tip with a steadily increasing gap towards the back.  All of the tools deploy from the inside, which some people do not like.  For me, it's not a problem.
When I got mine, every joint was extremely tight, so I took some Rem Oil and spent about an hour working all of the joints, and now they are all what I consider ideal.  Also, there are not unneccessary tools on the Rebar (IMHO).  One thing the Rebar has that really make it a winner is the fact that it has replaceable wire cutters.
The more I look at it, and the more I play with it, the quicker it is becoming one of my favorites (Next to the Charge Tti which will always be my favorite).

My plan is to put one BO head on a BO wave.

Dick's Sporting Goods has them. I made them open a shipping carton full of them when I found an empty peg.  :D

Initial thoughts... Since I was in high school I've carried a PST and then a Supertool. The only downside of the Supertool is I wanted all of those tools in the PST format. Which this is- yes! I didn't quite let out a girlish SQUEE at the register- I made it to the truck and did so with sound dampening around me.

So, initial impressions- it's bit stiff. I'll be grabbing a zip tie, my castor oil bottle and spending some time working it while watching TV tonight. I got it with the nylon sheath, which is ok, but I'm waiting for Mr Au to unpack and catch up on orders. :)

It is going to be really, really weird tommorrow. This will be the first day in about 18 years I won't have my ST with me other than flying or being in the court house. I'm going to have to find things to fix.

Hmm, can someone post a Rebar next to a PST so I can see the handle thickness difference, please?

I like the easy-open cut out for the knife blade; is there one on the other side? If so, what tool does it give access to?

Just the two blades. I think that is my one grumble, because it does make the saw and file harder to get to. But wow, what an agressive file- its going to mellow out after some metal work, but it's practially a rasp at this point for wood.

Oh!! Forgot about the serrated blade. Makes sense.

I'm spoiled by the Wave/Charge diamond file, so I'm glad to hear the Rebar file is sharp and aggressive. I assume one side is single-cut, the other is double-cut?

Thanks!

Hilarious timing...

Love o' My Life: "Whatcha doin', hon?"

Moi: "Askin' some questions on the forum about that Leatherman I ordered."

LoML: "Oh! That reminds me, you got a package today. Did I forget to tell you earlier?"

Me:  :ahhh  :mail:

OK, so, enough stupid questions, I actually have the dang thing here in my hands.  :tu:

I ordered the "military kit," black oxide with the Molle-compatible sheath.

This is my first BO LM, and man-o-man is it stiff. Been dousing the joints with lube and working the heck out of it, and it's beginning to smooth up. Got a lot of the BO coating on my hands at first. It came bone dry; wiping it down with some oil have both smoothed the surface, and stopped it getting all over my hands.

So far, I feel it's definitely a keeper. Same implements as my FrankenCharge Ti, except an awl instead of scissors. (FrankenCharge: replaced the two bit holders with the long square-shank Phillips drive and long medium flat drivers from a busted Fuse.) I'm so impressed with it, in fact, that I'm replacing the FrankenCharge with the Rebar in my EDC bag. I already carry the Leatherman Kick/Fuse/Blast bit adapter and bit kit, which also fits the Phillips drive of the Rebar, and it's an ounce and a half lighter than the FrankenCharge.

The only downside is I lose the OHO blades. But I've always got an EDC folding knife ob=n me, so the MT blades are just backups, and the Rebar fills that bill nicely. The FrankenCharge will go back to being my EDC MT when I don't feel like carrying a separate knife.

Oh yeah, the Molle sheath... Not too shabby. Holds the Rebar (or Charge, or Wave, or Blast, or Spirit...) comfortably, and has that slot in the back for the bit adapter card... but the card slot is elastic. WTF? Why? A simple nylon slot would hold up to real-world use sooooo much better.

The Molle attachment can easily be adapted to civvie-style belt carry, in which config it rides real low. But the flap uses a velcro closure, which isn't my cup 'o tea.

I guess I'm just a cranky ol' cuss, but until I pop for a Skinth, my EDC multi du jour is gonna end up in my old Leatherman Original Wave Leather Sheath. No noisy velcro, just a simple, quiet snap, and it holds each of the MTs in my EDC rotation. If it ain't broke...

I carry my rebar in my watch pocket of my jeans.  If it weren't for the lock tabs it would probably fit in the smaller sheaths.  I have tried and it fits pretty good in the smaller sheaths til you get to the lock tabs then it will not go.
