Boys and their toys ...

(The Lego figures are from a new Lego set my boys got, but that doesn't mean I don't get to play with them, right ?  ;)).

And one for the "blooper section" (there was a lot of wind today ...  ::))

My family and I went on a day trip to Germany yesterday, we went to the area known as the Eifel region.  First we had a nice hike around the city of Gerolstein

During this hike we passed the "Papenkaule", which is the crater of an ancient volcano (see first pic for info).

First some pics of the scenery (no way to get the Papenkaule and a SAK in one shot ...  ::)).

Here's my Swisschamp in the Papenkaule (you'll just have to take my word for it  ;)).

More pics will follow  ;).

During the same hike we passed a place called "Juddekirchhof", which is an old Gallo Roman temple site, build in the year 124 AD by the Roman Marcus Victorius Pollentius in honor of the goddes Caïva.

Later that day we went to a place called Emmelberg.  The Emmelberg is a volcano, estimated to be somewhat over a hunderd thousand years old.  Due to quarrying the volcanic layers have become visible.

Since this topic is slowly dying anyway, I'll use it to post pics of my tools, be it in a public place or just in my garden, like these next ones ...  :-\

So, here's my latest multitool, a brand new Leatherman PST, complete with box, leather sheath ("real leather" sheath, old style ... ) and original manual.

The sheath has spend the last 12 years in the clossed original Leatherman box, so when I opened it the smell of the old style sheath/Leatherman was the first thing I noticed ...  :dd:

The date codes in this PST are 0102, so it's not an early PST, but still, it immediately gave me that classic Leatherman feeling, everything fits great, nothing is rubbing against something it should not be rubbing against, it's nicely polished, it gives this nice "click" when you close the pliers and the handles meet ...

I just love these "old" Leatherman tools ...  :2tu: (and they look so awesome on pics  :o)

So, here are the pics:

Here are some pics of my first Leatherman (Supertool '94) and my latest one:

Sadly enough, you don't see this anymore on the "new style" Leatherman boxes ...

Seems like Romanians really like multitools ...

My parents, my uncle and aunt and a couple of others founded an organisation that collects medical supplies ("old" hospital beds and medical equipment and stuff like that), and clothes for a village in Romania.  From time to time they rent a big truck and transport the goods to Romania themselves.

On one of these trips they met a goat herder there which acted as their guide on a local hiking trip in the mountains, and at one point, my uncle used his Leatherman for something (don't know which model, he got it from his children as a gift and as far as he knows, there's only one type of Leatherman  ::)).  The goat herder saw it and said that he had never seen anything like this strange plier/knive/screwdriver ... tool.

The goat herder was so impressed that , at the end of their trip, my uncle decided to give him the Leatherman, and the guy was overwhelmed ...

My uncle had to buy himself a new Leatherman when he got home, because he didn't want his children to know that he gave away the present they bought him :D.

Boggers and Cat are used to me having MTs( the number of times I've tightened Cats glasses ) but they hadn't seen a flicky tool yet( it's ages since I've carried the MP425). Think it made an impression :D
