I expect it's the exception - they're been printing the shield for some time on the scales of the Angler/Fisherman/Ranger (since moving away from the inlaid and hot-stamped fish/camping logo).

The new 58mm Classic Colors still retain the metal inlay on the new solid and translucent colors, and with this being the 'new' Classic range, Victorinox would have had the opportunity to change the shield, and they didn't.

With the the onyx range, the opinion is that they used the printed shield as they were not able to do an inlaid shield on the 130mm - and they wanted to be consistent.

So I think it's safe to say that the metal inlay shield is still the default option for Victorinox, and we don't need to stock up on spare scales just yet
