At least you were wearing sensible trousers :D

Looks far too bloody cold for shorts :o

My mate is infamous for wearing shorts pretty much all the year through, he is an Aussie though so you do have to make allowances.

cheers all, it was a great trip but it's also nice to be home.
Bless they are all a bit special aren't they ;) :D

it was indeed. :)  It's hard to remember just how fantastic the hiking was, as well as just how wet it was and just how knackered I was. :D

I'm just getting caught up here myself Gareth. Looks like you sure saw some beautiful scenery. :)

Edit: Hey, what's with these old tools? Any special stories behind them?

In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

They were bronze age finds from the local lake side.  Bronze knife, axe head and the stone the axe is sitting on is one half of a mould for making the axe.  Very cool IMO.

Wow, can you imagine how difficult it must have been to carve that axe mold out of solid rock?! :o I wouldn't want to do it today, and I have a hardened steel chisel and a big hammer! :D

Awesome. I was wondering about that ax head before, nice to hear some about it.
And isn't the knife pictured by Victorinox in some brochures?
Great you had a good time, Gareth.  :)
