I had been given a Wave with a broken back, I had it for 3 years before finally sending it in. I also got a broken bladed Pst, that they sent me a Blast for.
However, both replacements were clearly used.
I was trying to loosen up the blast with some oil, and working the handles, and it actually wore a rut, into the frame before I noticed.
I Love LM and their tools, and warranty, but If you compare the construction of a PST, with virtually any modern LM (that I have seen, including my Charge TTI) They are clearly in a different class.
I had zero issues or break in with my original wave, or the PST,s that I have acquired that were not heavily used.
on my newer wave, blast and TTI I had to "break them in" and work them loose. I know the fit and finish is going down as well, My files on my squirts, and blast look nothing, Like the photos, much less the amazing file on the original model PST's I have bought.
Yeah It's abusive if someone buys a Lot of busted LM tools on ebay, has them replaced, and then resells them for a huge profit, but someone who finds or buys a tool, and takes advantage of the warranty, especially with all the encouragement, in both this forum, and the LM Facebook forum, Well I don't feel that bad about it, sorry. I will say I still haven't decided, If I will just live with my now loose Blast, and leave it in the car for emergencies, or If I will send it off again, and have to pay the shipping and handling, much less the possibility of getting something with a Monogram, as I have also heard on here of happening.
I donnow, I know people abuse things, but they abuse everything, its not like Leathermans warranty is the only thing people take advantage of, And I can't think of anyone I've ever seen on the forum, Who has Hocked them Like Many people do with Attwoods for example. I have more issue with that than taking advantage of a generous warranty offer. Because those Jerks, have artificially inflated the prices, thus driving them out of the price range of those of us who would be happy with a cheapo, and never to be seen again Less than $50 buck Attwood tool.
