Funny that the most famous battle (from the US perspective) actually took place two weeks after the treaty of Ghent had been signed, ending the war.
Yeah, communications were a bit sluggish in 1815.
New Orleans was one of the few decent performances by the US Army during the war. Overall the Army didn't do so hot. The US Navy, on the other hand.......If anyone is interested in learning more about the US Navy in the War of 1812, I recommend reading
