Assuming that doesn't turn out to be true........

We should probably organise a group buy off this stuff. It is rather ideal.

I have the 'magnetically induced stuff' - it's as close to perfect as I've found yet!
I used to come here a lot.

I think Ballistol is based on mineral oil. Good stuff in any case so long as you don't mind the smell of aniseed when it's first applied :)

Ballistol is German so, I reckon we should give John lots of Carlsberg.

magnetically induced stuff? what is that?  and wouldn't oil that generates an electrical current when placed in a magnetic field be a really bad thing?

Looks like you're right.  From the Ballistol Data Sheet:

Quote
Ballistol contains medicinal grade mineral oil, alkaline salts of oleic acid, several alcohols, Benzyl Acetate and an oil from
vegetal seeds. The mineral oil is unchlorinated and conforms to the specifications of US Pharmacopeia XX.

http://www.baileysonline.com/msds_sheets/PDFs/ballistol.PDF

Basically it says there is nothing else toxic in Ballistol either.

I get really quite evangelical about it tbh.

I'd never heard of the stuff until our resident "nano pedler" stuffed a tube into a tool I bought from him ;)

I used to come here a lot.

Now I need some too.... how about this buy then?! :)

I actually use WD40 too for most things, mainly because I really like the smell of it! I know that's not a scientific conclusion, but it does seem to work too ;)

Thanks for the advice guys, I did some googling and found this, they appear to offer free worldwide shipping, which is nice.  I think it is only supposed to be for CPF members, but when you hide your "secret" links so badly they can be found on google....   :twak:  .  Anyway, I have ordered some.

Has anyone here tried silicone grease on a MT btw?
