Yep, they did make them :)

I'm thinking that's probably a decent price too.

I would think that's an excellent price for anything Tiffany!   A hell of a find for a SAK collector.

Tiffany's shops sell these for about $200 - without the initials, with bag and box.

Oh, so they're not as rare as I thought they were, or as expensive.  :-\

Ditto.
Tiffany & Co. has commissioned several varieties of the sterling Classic - ribbed; 1834 ($250 on their website); roman numerals; polished as above...

That is a great price. Shame about the initials. Those other ones look delicious.

Tiffany has done a number of designs for Classics (photo 1). The problem is they cost about double what a comparable Victorinox runs (photo 2). In short you're paying a considerable amount for the name. Various other companies also do after-market Classics with silver handles for a more reasonable price (photo 3). The flag version was offered at one time by A. G. Russell.

For me it's like gold plating a shovel and charging the earth for it - purely a status symbol that works no better (and in my opinion looks no better) than the same model in cellidor/alox.

Each to their own but I hate status symbols. They are available to anyone with enough cash. Now modded SAK's - they are impressive.

I have a large number of standard SAKs, many of them rare. I have several modded SAKs, and others with custom handles. I have a Wenger Giant and a Victorinox Officer's Dagger. All of them are shelf queens, as I am primarily a collector. Status symbol? I don't think so, as outside of here no one cares about them.

I also have two dozen users.

Ya, it's pretty hard to think of a SAK of any variety as a status symbol.  Most people think I'm just crazy for carrying any SAK.  I'll carry any knife I really like thus I carry my Damascus and Heritage. I think it's great that Neil carries a SS one since he loves those ones.  In the old days a great SAK could be a bit of a status symbol I think, back then they were a luxury and were a lot more necessary than today if you were a free spirit or do it you self type of person.

I personally believe the Tiffany ones are over priced, but one day hopefully I'll get the SwissChamp and MiniChamp versions.  I also REALLY like the Atlas version and try to watch for a mint one of of those.  The others I'm not too crazy about because I think the Toothpick and Tweezers ruin the look of the SS SAK.  I bought a couple SS toothpicks though so if I get one of their MiniChamps I'll be replacing the T&T with more suitable alternatives.  I do like that they use an 18K shield on some, without that I would not even want their champs as I'm more of a gold than silver person.

I did manage to get all the current Vic SS knives for less than 1/2 retail (I even have a couple spares), but I don't see those kind of deals on the Tiffany ones.

I don't have enough shelves for my books so my SAK queens don't get such luxury accomodations as a shelf.

Yes Sterling; Some guy last year was making and selling them on ebay.  I've not seen them listed in a while. I found the ebay user-id "ykostudio"; you could try to contact him and see if he has more or will make more.

Hey Karl, I found out that A.G. Russell offered the old-glory classic in Sterling and Stainless Steel.  Do you have both of those?

I have the sterling version. Didn't know they offered it in stainless. Learn something new here every day.

Did think of one Victorinox that would fall in the category of 'Status Symbol'.

(I intend to get one of each. As soon as my PowerBall check arrives. :D)

Oh my! At those prices I might get 2 of each! A user and one to put away in the safe. Now I just need to get my hands on a quarter of a million dollars to pay for them. :D

Here's one with no initials, and a beat up leather case.
Actually, the knife looks pretty beat up too, but it might go for a good price.

If it goes for under $50 it will be a good buy.
The sellers is reliable.
