76 soldier red?
on: July 02, 2012, 11:09:15 PM

This looks like an old 76 soldier but it is (or was) red!
Is it me or the 76 soldier should be silver?

My guess would be a worn Pioneer with a lanyard hole rather than a red Soldier.

The red alox soldier years were 61-65.  Do you think someone broke the blade and it was replaced sometime long ago with a 76 marked blade?

SAKWiki mentions that, quote:

"Some 1970, and 1975 models were produced with Red Alox scales (Silver also available)."

Possibly this happened for some 1976 Soldiers as well. The scale cross matches the 1976 year if I am not mistaken, but I am far from an expert on Soldiers.

On the other extreme I won't exclude the possibility that somebody just painted the scales so it may look like worn out anodizing. But the wear appears uniform so likely it is indeed anodizing in this case.

If you will buy it please tell is what it is after you will receive it  :)

I have an almost new condition red 71 alox soldier on the way to me soon.
I've seen a 77 and 78 soldier in red also.

Wow.  I'm glad I don't collect anymore, the variations would drive me crazy and into the poor house!
