Today I was working at the Philadelphia Navy Yard and took a walk at break time.
This is the USS JFK, I think, that is what google maps said.
It looks to be in a sad state, but still an awesome feat of engineering if you ask me.
We were kind of hoping that we could get on board but it was all fenced in and locked up.
The pics don't do it justice either, this ship is Huge!!!
I love getting paid to do stuff like this.

Yep, that's the USS John F. Kennedy, CV-67. She's awaiting disposal either as a museum or scrapping. I was aboard her years ago in NYC during fleet week, and you're right, she's huge! She was docked across from the USS Intrepid, and made the older carrier look small. Both dwarfed this tiny little flattop toy-looking thing moored in between them, HMS Illustrious.

The Brits did have a neat trick up their sleeve though to show off. While we were on Illustrious, a Harrier took off and flew off over the Hudson while the ship was docked! Very cool!

We took our youngest daughter to Chattanooga, Tenn. this past weekend to be a nanny for some friends of ours. On our way back to Texas we stopped in Franklin, Tenn. to visit the only private Confederate cemetery.

Yep and that's a small locomotive! There are two big old Alco Century series diesels in service on a short line in the area. You can tell they're going by because an Alco horn sounds much different from an EMD or GE.....
