I've been there a number of times. Bought a fair number of items there. They normally sold items at list (which probably didn't help sales), but after I hauled several trays of rare and unusual Wengers down there to show to the staff, the manager started giving me a very nice discount.

The store has a cool wall painting of an old Wenger poster, a big advertising model like 5 feet tall, tents and boots as well as knives and watches...
The manager Rudy had the author of the Swiss Army Knife Owner's Manual do a book signing there last year.

That's "People's Republic of Boulder". I'm glad I live out in the county.

I talked to Rudy briefly about maybe scoring the the big advertising model (I think its closer to 8' tall). Even if it was available (doubtful) I probably couldn't get it home, and I don't think it would fit in the basement.

Ah yes.  I must have been thinking of the Lost Kingdom of Breckenridge.

I never had the chance to visit that store but reading about this, especially that this appears that it was the only store of its kind in the US and possibly Canada as well, does not sound well..

Yes, this is truly sad.   :( :(

I'm afraid the problems with its viability were a lot worse that stated in the news store (which frankly can never be trusted to get the simplest things accurate), otherwise they would have just corrected them and continued... closing altogether is a strong signal.

Yup.  Also, in this store, water bottles, sleeping bags, pocket sharpener -- and the 15-hundred dollar Giant.
One wall has (had?) notes from dozens of people telling their stories about their SAKs around the world, from little kids to seasoned travelers.

Another wall had tents set up on it, 90 degrees to reality.  All in all a funky zone of Boulderama.

I get all my Wengers from Felinevet :salute:
"Some rise by sin, and some by virtue fall;
 Some run from breaks of ice, and answer none:
 And some condemned for a fault alone." -William Shakespeare, King Lear (1608), Act IV, scene 6, line 169
