That would be the LED and reflector "sticking out the side". :D The Ultafire z2 is a right-angled light like a lot of the Zebralights.

AHAAAAAAAAAAA, omg. I see now :)

I just got that.. bug telling me to buy a LD12...

And how do you like the LD12, now that you have it?

I like it a lot :) It has the features I look for in a flashlight: momentary on, clip, single AA. The lumens look much brighter than they are, at least to me, when I compare LD12 to E11. Some people on CPF report some flicker problem... I haven't noticed it though. Others complained about a "ring"-y beam... and I noticed that last night...It doesn't hinder me, it's ... it has that hotspot in the centre, then a broad beam area around that hotspot and then there's another... narrow ring-like thingie on the outside. But for me it was difficult to notice, because the spill of the flashlight turned out enormous, it lights up everything so I don't have the need to look at the ... outside "edges" of the beam. This is my second XP-G2 flashlight after the i3s and hte Olight's proven that this new emitter does wonders... so I hope the run times will be veeeeeeery long indeed with the LD12, too :) Ive had it for two days or three only so far and can't say yet. Anyway, I love Fenix :D

Still waiting for my boys flashlights. I've heard the sipiks are pretty good, even the knockoffs.
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

My new Fenix PD35

I've been hesitating to pull the trigger on one since I don't think it would be as nice to carry as my LD22.  Does it live up to the hype?

I have both the LD22 and the PD35. Both excellent. PD35 is slightly stubbier, but still very good in the hand. Great throw and hotspot coupled versatility.I would buy both again if lost.

I don't have LD22 and I cannot tell, but here is a photo with LD12 for comparison:

Thanks for the input, folks, although I was mostly curious if it lived up to the hype from a brightness standpoint.  Does it blow the LD22 out of the water, or not so much?

Recently picked up this beast at the local Home Depot for <$30. Three C cells and a drop rating of 30' with the rubber caps installed. High/Med/Flash modes.

We recently had a 10 hour power outage..... This thing doesn't mess around and has some serious throw. She rides full time in my truck now.

I recently bought a new Mini Mag AAA that I was enjoying quite a bit, until my wife stole it for her keychain EDC.

I shopped around for a replacement but couldn't find all the options I was looking for. I found a 10+ year-old incandescent Mini Mag AA of mine in my tool bag at work. I brought it home for reassignment. Bought a Terralux LED bulb and Nite-Ize tail switch. WOW. A light I had long forgotten is now my new EDC flashlight. I have heard about the Nite-Ize switch taking away from the full potential of the Terralux, but I did some beam shots and the difference is hardly noticeable. If anyone is interested in those shots, I can post some.

The best part of this story, is I was showing my coworkers the next day at work, when I realized I had not reinstalled the lense cap!  No problem, I used it as normal and found the lense cap on the floor when I got home

I agree. I love Maglite and sadly my little red solitaire was wrecked because of a leaky battery.  My 10 year old 2D Maglite got a led upgrade but only (30lm cheapo rayovac LED) and she sits at bedside.

My 2D got one of Maglite's own drop-in LEDs, not particularly bright, but it works well enough.  Not sure they make them any more though.  Mine sits on my work bench, just in case. :D

They're not bad either. :tu:  I got one of the (claimed) 140 lumen ones years ago and thought it was excellent.  Nowhere near 140 lumen mind you, but they might well have upgraded the LED since then. ;)

Looking online some people are saying that Nite-ize conversion is easier to install (no risk of breaking your Mag) and that Terralux sometimes doesn't work at all. Any truth behind that for those that tried it?

Agreed. If I can re-purpose or revitalize something I already own, that's awesome. I was glad I was able to find the old Mag Lite; After an extensive search at home, I thought I had tossed it. I was pleasantly surprised when I found it at work.

I don't have any exp. with the Nite-Ize LED, but generally have read about it being significantly less-bright than the Terralux.

The only restrictions/problems I have heard is it has to be installed on a AA MiniMag, and if it doesn't work, rotate the bulb pins 180 degrees. Obviously no problems with mine, but it will take me a few months to stop twisting the bezel to turn it on/off!

Two of them are modified, the one surefire with defense bezel also has a led bulb and a just click switch rather then just a pressure and turn on switch, and the maglite, also has a defense bezel and a led bulb, it did have one of those all in one click switches but I took it out, JR
