Lovely stuff.... never ceases to amaze me how bad some people's kitchen knives are!

My mother practically uses a spatula to thump her veg in to submission.... I have been sneaking good knives in there one by one ;)

I wouldn't mind one of those. My GF wouldn't know what to do with it, I still remember when shortly after moving in together, I discovered her trying to cut potatoes with a serrated knife from a $4 IKEA set...

Containing a paring knife, a long, thin carving knife, and a 10" butcher knife.

The smaller two are always dull, thanks to her cutting against hard things with them. The big butcher knife, she is uncomfortable with, therefore it is always sharp and ready for ME to use. ;)

Great knives, with those Fibrox handles and truly stainless blades.

Well, if he does, we've seen the preview.

Scroll up, look at the knife, look at Shamus' avatar, look at the knife. *grins* I needed the giggle.

  That's so funny, because it is so true of many people.

I have their 10" version of the same knife and I really like it.  I've pretty much given up on their small paring knives I still have them in the block, but they need sharpening too often.  Anyway now I use the Sanduko more and I have some Vic ones of those and some from some others. They are versatile and replace the paring knife for many prep tasks.

My Favorite Vic Kitchen knife right now (or co-favorite with the 10" chef) is their 4 3/4" ceramic.  I think it's amazing.

As time goes by she is even more thrilled with the knife’s performance. It’s light, well-balanced, SHARP, and the angle of the handle lends to a real natural rocking motion when chopping veggies (and we eat a LOT of fresh veggies). She commented that her hands aren’t tired anymore after chopping, and the chopping goes by FAST.

I can see why America’s Test Kitchen rated this as “Highly Recommended”,  and why they have THIRTY of them in their own test kitchen. They call the 8” Victorinox Chef’s knife “Old Reliable”.
