I think we just had an earthquake! The whole house shook quite a bit, quite surreal really laid in bed!

Anyone else in the UK feel it??

Yeah, nothing broken that we're aware of but its the first one i've ever experienced! According to our housemates its reached quite a wide area of england!

I'm impressed it came up so quickly on the internet, but i suppose its someones job to monitor this sort of thing. I'm not too far from Nottingham which is listed in the distances, Mike is near London so it wasnt him

Dunc is near Norwich which is further down the coast on the big bump so he's a bit further away than me.

I can't say I felt it this far down south, but it might be an idea to check your tiles (send a sacrificial housemate out the door first) as you don't want one of them falling on your bonce

Yeah physical geography was always more up my street than human geography. Always fun traipsing over hills looking at different bits of the landscape and figuring out how they were formed.

I was awake when the earthquake happened. I was literally a few seconds off turning my TV off and going sleep, I heard a little rumble then my room shook a little, a bit more, then quite a bit more. It wasn't anything major like other countries have but I'd never witnessed an earthquake in my life so it was all a bit 'weird'. My dad actually thought it was me making a noise and thinking I'd fell down the stairs again

(I fell down the stairs a week or so ago and have a burn mark on my ass and my back, funny for other people but it did bloody hurt at the time

)

Pretty much what i experienced too, it is amazing the power that's released. I'd hate to be in a proper one, as you really have no warning its coming.

The closest I got was when I lived in a maisonette above a shop that was being converted into a Somerfield (big grocery store for thouse outside the UK). During the conversion they had to remove a loadbearing wall and when they did this my whole house dropped a little. It obviously wasn't a lot, but it was enough that you could actually feel it. The house really suffered afterwards. There were huge cracks everywhere and a couple of doors wouldn't close afterwards.

I used to work for somerfields, I'm glad they tried to ruin your life as well
