If you want to get REAL paranoid, look in your wallet.  There are now magnetic strips in most US paper currency, which right now is designed to foil counterfeiters, or at least that's the current story.  The reality is that anyone who walks through a metal detector (airports, courthouses, government buildings- even those shoplift gates in stores!) could be revealing just how much cash they have on them to anyone wishing to pay attention.

Ever see "Enemy of the State?"  :D

Yeah, that little platinum-poly strip in the dollar.  When it was originally developed, the government didn't have the scanning device for it. So the strip waqs tested using the targeting system from an AH-64 Apache gunship  :ahhh

There was even an inconfirmed story fro Desert Storm I, during USSOC "scud hunting" operations. The team targeting laser system failed.  So one of the men snuck in placed a platinum-poly strip $5.00 bill on one of the mobile launchers.  And the Apaches zeroed in on that :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh

It's not anyone you know, it's EVERYONE YOU KNOW!!!  :D

In all seriousness though, there's some disturbing stuff going on these days. Put it this way: even if nobody's out there trying to track you, imagine sitting in a government desk one day and being handed a comprehensive package of ways to track any person's every movement, activity and preferences.

The simple reality is that if something CAN be abused, at some point sooner rather than later it WILL be abused.

Now I wonder if they'll make hazelnut flavored soylent milkshakes....
