I am generally against the idea of tattoos. Not on others. I don't care if other folks want tattoos. But for me, I just keep wondering if at some point, I'll look at it and go 'Man, that's stupid, and permanent'.

I DID think it'd be a good idea to get blood type and drug allergies tattooed on my forearms, religious preference, Organ Donor, that sort of thing. Lamest tattoo EVER! :D

I have also thought about getting a medical alert type tattoo on my wrist since I never wear my actual medical alert  :facepalm:

Ah, never too late!  My mom wants to get one.  My stepfather's response is "Over my dead body!", to which mom reminds him that he's older than her and has health problems.  ::)  She'll get her ink.....

Medical tattoos are more common than you'd think, and a pretty good idea I reckon!

I have plans for four right now but i am not sure where i want them.  I really want to put a few tibetan calligraphy words on my forearms but i havent decided.  A lot of potential bosses stereotype that type of ink. 

I plan on getting a koi done on my left or righr shoulder and maybe a dhamma wheel on the other shoulder.  I also want to get a tibetan word on my calf. 

I fully plan on getting the entire mani mantra done too, definitely on my arm.  That one may wait until i have settled in a career that accepts lots of tats.  I've been thinking about getting inked for more than ten years, i can wait a bit longer.  Plus i have to buy the calligraphy from the artist before i can get any of them done.

I have a few tattoos, some I regret, some I couldn't imagine not having. None I have regretted, because of design or placement. Here are my three rules for getting a tattoo and not regretting it.

One I regret because well it's almost a big blue dot now, 20+ years after I got it of course. It was recommended to me by the artist to do it bigger as it was far to detailed for the size I wanted. I didn't listen! Always listen to the tattoo artist.

The second one I regret was because it was started far too late in the evening and the artist got tired. Hence the work suffered, and well as my inner bicep. Was I warned by the artist that it had been a long day and he was not feeling up to doing another tattoo , yes. Did I listen, no. He was a friend and I was heading out of town in the morning so I convinced him to do it. Always listen to the tattoo artist.

Last but not least, only book the appointment once you feel 100% about everything, artist choice, design, placement, cost!

So let's recap!

1) Wait until your 100% convinced on all details.
2) Listen to the tattoo artist!
3) Listen to the tattoo artist!

So true about listening to the artist, which is why it's even more important to go to one you have researched and found lots of feedback about.

I don't argue with mine, she's lovely and she knows best... we are old friends too which helps :D

Well I made it out alive! :))  Mine took 2hrs, and didn't hurt at all. I was actually starting to fall a sleep because the vibrations of the gun and her rubbing my arm felt really soothing!  I know, I'm weird!

I don't have a pic yet as it has black bandage on it, but I'll get one up tomorrow.

WTG I hope you enjoy it. I have 2 tattoos of course one is awesome done by a great artist. The other tat is the first one I got and not so great, thinking about getting a cover up.  :facepalm:
