Spyderco Pride
on: March 30, 2008, 09:05:42 PM
The other day I was lucky enough to be given a Spyderco Pride http://spyderco.com/catalog/details.php?product=62 from a fellow member (I think you can guess who  :D) and I have to say I love this knife. It isn't the prettiest, but is is NKP friendly and as it's a slippy and doesn't have a lock, I can EDC it.

Does anyone else have one of these?  Any thoughts?
I'm back!!

I feel so bad for you guys that can't have locking knives. Of course our gov't has its own stupid rules too so don't feel too bad. I'd love to force the idiot politicians who pass these idiot laws to spend a few days in a real bad part of Detroit or East St Louis without a weapon of any sorts and see how safe they feel. It's amazing how these laws get passed yet don't do anything to lower crime. And the worst part is they KNOW the laws are useless yet keep passing them.

Band aid solutions.

You have a three year old... you know the power of a band aid to placate all issues.  When your boy falls and scrapes his knee, he screams like it's the end of the world, until a band aid goes on, then there's no more pain, no more tears and all is right with the world.  Did the band aid do anything really?  No, but for some reason, the munchkin feels better and goes about getting into more trouble somewhere else.

It's not even a bandaid solution; it's a political ploy to exploit knee-jerk feelings. The issue comes up two weeks before an election, the politician seizes it (or creates it sui generis) and takes it up as a battle cry, knowing full well that it will have little if any positive effect. The voter, temporarily placated by useless vapor-law feels empowered and served by the politician. Everybody wins except the public.

Emphasis on the "suck."

I can't seem to get hold of one.  :(  I emailed Spyderco about it, but I never got a reply.  I am probably just going to get some new scales made up out of G10.  And I know the man for the job.  ;)

That's sweet. I may have to get my Spyderco Nav2 out after my surgery and play with it for a few days. I had a Co-Pilot that I got in a trade(Thanks again Hawkchucker) that I recently gave to my Dad. He loved it. My favorite knives are SAK's but running a close second(or third if you count Wenger and Vic separately) are Spydie's.

Edited to add: I bet if you register on the Spyderco forum and ask someone there they'll be more than happy to show you where you can get a flag. The folks over there are great.

Yeah it does look quite unthreatning and small, so I doubt it would scare any sheeple.
