New Christmas pool
on: September 12, 2012, 04:17:27 AM
It was such a big hit last year that I'm going to do it again! This time we will start earlier as to have everyone able to get it in time this year. Any thoughts, suggestions, or comments post here so we can get things sorted. :tu:
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

I'm intrigued... but for those of us that weren't around last year, could you provide some more details?  or maybe a link to last year's thread?  thanks!  :)

Put me down for it Steve. I'm going to be putting a few things aside for sale soon anyway so I'm sure I can conjure up something sharp and shiny for someone  :D

If Steve's running it, it's his rules as he's doing all the work. That said, it would be a shame if someone couldn't get their pressie because customs snaffled it  :-\

Gifting something "universally accepted" is safer and saves Steve having to sort out what can go where. An OHO locking knife to Germany, any OHO knife or tool with an OHO blade to Australia or Denmark, autos and assisted openers to many places, might not get through

Well we wouldn't want that, would we? I'm guessing an Eddie Bauer wenger minigrip will be nonoffensive to customs?

Not sure - you might be better off sending that direct to me so I can check it out  :P :D :D
Just kidding mate  :D That would make a fantastic gift for someone  :salute:

Steve, last year I think it eventually became accepted to ship internationally for all participants, but it didn't happen straight away. Would it be worth making that in the "rules" for those that weren't at last year's party?

It might also be worth seeing if there are any free "Secret Santa" type applications online which should cut down on the work you had to do last time. No point in giving yourself a headache if there's an easy way through  :D Based on SAKnights question above, it's probably worth ensuring that folk list what they're sending again to give someone the chance to  :pok: :pok: if they're proposing sending something that might not make it through borders. All just ideas mate  :salute:

Other than that, good show for running it again feller  :tu:

Great feeling to get an unexpected gift.

Want to share that joy.

I´m with you on the universally accepted items, just for clarification: We can own and buy as many one handed, locking blades as we wish, it´s just not allowed to carry one outside as long as you have got no actual reason to do so.

I´ll have a look if i can spare something soemone around here would actually want.

Thanks for the clarification mate  :tu: I was just scrabbling for examples of areas with restrictions other than the UK, and got yours slightly skewed

I am in thanks.
Does your gift have to be brand new, as I have quit a few nearly new tools and SAKs that I tried for a very brief time before deciding on something else.

OK folks, Here are the rules
1. You must have at least 100 posts or positive feedback from members here or a :tu: from a fellow member in good standing
2. Please specify shipping preference (If no preference then shipping anywhere is what you can do)
3. Please post you name in the list and keep it organized
This will run until November 13th so we should have time to ship this go round. I will handle the details same as I did last year. We will do a random number generator and then everyone will be pmed by me with the person to ship to :)

This time please do not post what you are giving. A surprise is a surprise after all :) There is no limit on what you can spend or give. Its all up to you.

Last rule and most important! Have fun and give to someone less fortunate than yourself especially children.
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?
