SAK alert for Target stores

Look at what I found at Target today.  19.99 , A serrated Spartan.  Something you don't see everyday.

Interesting. I wonder if these are new or NOS. Does it have the modern thin 2.0mm tang or the older 2.4mm? Can you see if there is a locking nub on the caplifter?

I haven't even taken it out of the package yet.  I planning on keeping this one mint and going back to get another one later this week to use.  I took the last one off the rack, so hopefully they have more in the storeroom or something.

I'm interested to see if it has the crossbow on the tang.  CentralValleyWholesale on Ebay has serrated Spartans in stock and they have the old pre-2006 crossbow tang stamp.

Thanks for the alert. The new serrated Spartan (Weekender), 53152, was announced last week at the Victorinox USA website. It's selling from the company for $28.

You can actually see both features (2.0 mm tang stamp and locking nub) through the packaging.

That said...

It does. I bought one and opened it. It was both the 2.4mm tang, crossbow stamp, new caplifter with locking nub, and pin slot in the scales. This would indicate that these are a new run and not NOS from the last set of these made in the mid 1990s.

Thanks for the heads up. I wouldn't worry about opening this one - there will be more.

That looks like a pretty nice set of tools tbh. No need to fret about any issues of having a serrated blade since there's the small one as well.. neat.

Wonder if they'll start selling over here as well.

Since these are a current production model, you can find these lots of places. My guess is that FelineVet either has some or can get you one if requested. CentralValleyWholesaler, a good guy to deal with on eBay, has some, as does WalMart.com last I checked.
