Someone on here once said that it seemed like LM was using their warranty in place of QC and I think there might be something to that, and if so, it's a bad policy in my opinion. Yes, this of course would have been replaced under warranty. But I would have had to find a mailer or a box and some newspaper, fill out and print out the LM warranty return form, pack the box, address it, take it to the post office, wait in line if the automated system is broken (which it often is), and then pay 3 or 4 bucks. Basically a pain in the butt while I spent a fraction of that time with a dremel and hammer. The fact that I was able to easily fix the tool worked out for me, but I can imagine it not being so for many other consumers. Leatherman - get it right the first time
