So the OHT began shipping worldwide in August 2012, initially in black or Coyote Tan, with silver added later for a short while.

The Camouflage model appears to have been a one-off run, sold together with a 'By the Numbers' #11 tool (or #12), to international markets in 1996.

The camo that Leatherman chose is an interesting design, based on a pattern released by KUIU in 2016 called Verde 2.0, for their clothing line. Presumably Leatherman licensed this pattern, or maybe not as there's no "under license" reference?

Here are some pictures of the KUIU camo and the OTH factory 'beauty' shots. The unboxing pics of the MT will follow in next posts.

If you look on Leatherman's web site (and almost any other site that lists the OHT), the tools are different to what they have been shipping since 2012.

1. Can opener profile now bigger
2. Small flat no longer tapered
3. Saw no longer has nail nick on the tip
4. SE blade chisel edge appears reversed
5. Strap cutter V is much smaller

I've waded through all the posts on this board and all the OHTs pictures show the original design (on the left).

So either Leatherman planned new tools for the OHT that never happened, or someone got creative in their marketing dept...any ideas?

Anyone seen these 'new' tools on a current OHT?

Interesting observation, Max. Thank you for posting it. :salute:

Checked both of my OHTs and their toolsets match the set on your camo version.
I have not seen an OHT with differing toolsets yet. Not sure LM would have updated the OHT anyway. The graphic on the right wouldn't fly, as it looks like all three flat drivers are similar in size. :ahhh

Thanks guys (nice pic TP).  :like:

I think at some point LM updated the graphic design of the OHT but it was never carried through to production. There’s no tool sharing with any other LM product (all the OHT tools & pliers are unique), so it’s not a very cost-effective product for LM as they have to manufacture everything just for the OHT. I expect this is a marginal line for LM and will be earmarked for EOL in the near future.  :(

Perhaps it's a prototype pic before the tools evolved to what we know today.  :dunno:

You could be right Syncop8r. They may have done the design artwork before finalizing the tooling (probably outsourced) and as the camo model came out several years later, they used the correct designs for this artwork, but never rolled it back into what they had for the original black and CT versions. Who knows? Anyway, it’s a real minor thing that’s more of a curiosity, but technically you’re not getting exactly what LM show on their website when you buy an OHT.  ???
