Knifespotting: Inspector Juve vs Fantômas
on: October 03, 2012, 06:11:47 PM
In Juve Contre Fantômas from 1913 there is a scene where a group of police men want to open a grid securing a tube that is part of the central heating system in a building. One of the officers grabs a knife from his pocket, and starts unscrewing the cover. The knife is a dead ringer for the 1897 officer's knife. The screwdriver is very similar, and it is possible to see that the knife has a corkscrew. Now, knives in this style was made in many countries in Europe at the time, including France, but it was still cool to see the design in action in a movie from the era. Also, police officers in movies who quickly grab multitools instead of relying on brute force always has my sympathy. :D
