Hello,

I just received a new Spirit X today and when opened the pliers heads dont touch except for the very end at the tip.

It might be hard to see but you can see white paper from just down from the tip all the way to the end the pliers.  I have circled the area that doesnt touch.

Is this typical Victorinox quality or what?   I have never seen a Leatherman that I own be like this so I am pretty bummed about it.

Yes that's intentional.  Almost all multitools are that way, most leathermans too.

  • I may get older but I refuse to grow up.
I just pulled out all the Leathermans I had at arms reach (Worrying amount :ahhh sizes ranging from ST300 to Juice) and they all had that too. Pliers are supposed to look like that. That provides greater gripping surface for the pliers. Well except if you're gripping a piece of paper. :)

Most of my Leathermans have very little gap, where as the Spirit X is pretty wide.  I guess I never seen it to that degree until I got the Spirit X so I just wasnt expecting it and didnt want to be stuck with a bad one!

Thanks for the replies! :)

No worries, we're here to help. :salute: Actually the Wave has almost no gap, while the bigger and smaller LM pliers have it. The gap is bigger on the Spirit though.

And if I didn't say it before, Welcome to MTO.

That is what I was saying "almost no gap" at all on most of mine!  Thanks for the
Welcome!

I also have the SwissTool coming so I guess I should expect the same! LOL
