Do you use grip tape on your tools ?
on: March 06, 2008, 11:12:06 PM
Just got my first multi :D a Juice XE6. I love it, but it's certainly a slippery little customer, so I was thinking of using 'grip tape' which I think is used in sports (never seen or used it before).
Do any of you do this, and is this tape the sort of stuff that any sports store will stock ?

Thanks  :multi:

I use stair tread tape on most my tools. You should try it.

Nah.

Every darn time I go to the store to buy some to try out, either I can't find it or they're sold out. I like my tools smooth.

I prefer gaffer's tape.  It's strong, waterproof, grippy, and leaves no adhesive residue if you decide to remove it.

I have a roll of something like that but haven't gotten around to trying it out yet.

Hmm, but grip tape like this is intended to stick to itself. In other words, there is no adhesive and hence no way to use it on a multitool without wrapping it. I guess you can always scratch up the handle to help get a bit more grip.

I'd give it a while before you do something drastic like covering it in tape, see how you feel after, say a fortnight, and if you still can't get on with it, go down the tape route then :)

I have a juice and I can't say I have ever found it too slippery ???  I think it is easy to hold as it is small and fits in the hand easily.
I'm back!!

No, but I'm considering.

Not for any need, but for style

I wonder if it will act as sandpaper against the sheath though.

It's strange as i've playing with the Juice for a day now and yes it does feel much better to handle, I just had to get used to it  :D

I thought 'grip tape' was an adhesive tape to stick on to sporting goods, I know nothing about this stuff  ???
